New for Spring 2018, By Terry Game Lighter Palettes, are two matte and shimmer eye shadow palettes. First, Palette No 1, Fun’tasia, has ten matte and shimmer rainbow shades. In addition, these shadows are unique. Next, No 2, Pixie Nudes, has ten matte and shimmer pink, nude, and brown shades. Both palettes have vibrant, eye popping colors that are meant to create endless color and texture combinations.
The packaging is different from last Spring’s Partis Pris Techno Aura Eye Shadow Palettes ($58). On the one hand, the compacts from both years are ultra- thin. On the other hand, last year, each compact held six eye shadow shades. Also, the shades were jewel-toned and forest inspired. This year, the Game Lighter Palettes have five metallic shades that are surrounded by five coordinating satin-matte shades. Furthermore, the shades are rainbow shades or pinks, browns and nudes. First, the compacts are ultra-slim.
They have a really cool silver holographic top that , depending on how you look at it, shines blue, red, green, orange, and yellow.
When opened there is a full, width sized mirror. Also included in the palette is a double-ended eye shadow brush. One side is for applying shadow, and for blending.
The other side is for lining and creating eye definition. Inside, the five larger holographic squares hold the five satin-matte shades of eye shadow.
Outside, the matte shadows surround the smaller, dime sized holographic squares which house five metallic shades of shimmer eye shadows that coordinate with their outer square counterparts.
By Terry Game Lighter Palettes Formula
The formula is rich in pigments and as a result color payoff is achieved using one stroke of the brush. In addition, it has a liquid to powder technology that creates a creamy, highly blendable formula
. Also, the formula feels soft and silky. Furthermore, the highly reflective formula included finely milled pearls.
By Terry Game Lighter Palettes Shades
There are two playful eye shadow palettes in the Game Lighter Collection. First, each palette has five matte shades that surround 5 coordinating shimmer shades. Therefore, each of the larger squares’ center squares are multi-reflecting prisms that provide metallic light. In addition, on each of the outer parts of the centers are highly pigmented, saturated matte finish shades.
Fun’tasia No 1 By Terry Game Lighter Palette
Fun’tasia is the playful palette. It has ten rainbow shades.
Pixie Nude No 2 By Terry Game Lighter Palette
The enlightening nude shades, Pixie Nude colors are shades in pinks, nudes and browns.
Sum
Most important, the shades in both of these palettes are meant to be played with. Therefore, they will create many color and texture combinations. However, the shades can be worn alone for a more subtle, natural look. Also, the shades can be layered to create high impact color. Finally, the shades can be blended together to create a dramatic look
By Terry is a luxury brand from the creator of Yves Saint Laurent’s famous Touche Eclat. I am usually more enthusiastic when she comes out with new eye shadow palettes. However, the new Game Lighter palettes are somewhat disappointing. First, as you can see in the swatches, many of the shades are not as pigmented as advertised! It took me many swipes to achieve what you see here. Also, the matte shadows were a bit chalky. There was also fallout when applied. On the other hand, I loved the metallic shades. They were more consistent with pigments, and the formula was creamier.
Finally
Last, I thought the squares were a fun, colorful idea. However, I don’t think it works well in the palette. First is the problem with the small area of color of the matte squares , as well as the small size of the metallic squares. First, the matte square didn’t have enough area in the small pan so that I could grab the color. As a result, the matte color started to become mixed with the metallic center. Moreover, the matte color’s dust kicked up and got all over the palette! Next, the squares of the shimmer shades are way too small. They are about the size of a dime. Therefore, the inner squares are too tiny to get enough color for one swipe!
The are so many new spring palettes that either have been released, or will soon be released, that you don’t have to rush out to buy this one. What do you think? Tell me in the comments below.
