tight-lining

In order to create a tight line, line your eye tight against the waterline under the lashes of the upper lid.  Also, line the lashes above the lashes of the lower lid.  Most important, use a waterproof eyeliner because of the closeness to the membranes and surface of your eye.  To illustrate, the technique makes your eyelashes look longer.  The reason for this is it creates the illusion that the lashes appear farther back on your eyelid.  Therefore, it makes the lashes appear longer.  Moreover, your eyelashes will look voluminous and lush.

5 Main Types  of Eyeliner On The Market

There are five main types of eye liner on the market.  On one hand, you can smudge certain eye liners.  Therefore, the smudged eye liner will create a smoky eye look.  On the other  hand, some of the liners can create a clearly defined look.

Liquid Eye Liner

Liquid Liner comes, usually,  in a small bottle. And typically you can apply it with a sharp-tipped brush. And, as a result, it creates a clean, precise line.  Additionally, the liner’s formula water-based.  Unfortunately, water based formulas take time to dry on the eyelid.  Therefore, keep your eyelids closed until the formula dries.  Because the liner creates a heavy look, only apply it  to the upper lash line.  And, it has a matte finish.  Moreover, liquid liner is easy to wash off.  The problem with liquid eye liner is it requires time and precision.

Also, Liquid liner comes in the form of a felt-tipped pen. First, the pen is easier to control.  Therefore it quickly creates a precise line.  And, it is great for creating thick lines.  Although, the downside to the felt tipped pen is it smudges.  And, it is important to layer for more intensity.  Worst of all, it is hard to remove.

Powder Based Eye Pencil

The powder based eye pencil also contains a waxed-based formula.  Furthermore, the formula includes waxes for an easier application.  In addition, it comes in a variety of intense , matte shades.  Moreover, it comes in paler shades, white and beige.  The powder-based formula also can come in a cone or compact.  Hence, they will have a brush applicator.

Additionally, Shadow Liner falls in the powder-based category.  First of all, shadow liner is easy to apply.  Moreover, it is a great product to create a smoky eye. And, it is one of the best ways to make the eyes pop.  However, the downside to shadow liner is it needs a brush, requires precision, and it fades fast.

Kohl

Kohl is a soft powder that is available in dark matte shades.  In fact, Kohl is popular for it’s incredible black pigmentation.  Also, used to create a black outline around the eyes. It creates cool, smoldering lines that easily apply.  Additionally, kohl is great to use in the waterline.  However, the downside to wearing kohl is it has a short wear-time.  Furthermore, kohl smudges easily.  Most important, Kohl is not a precise liner.  Also, kohl is not long-lasting.  And, the Kohl pencil needs sharpening.

The Kohl Pencil is easy to use, and mess free.  Also, it works best applied along the waterline to darken the eye area.  First, apply the pencil to the eyelids. Next, smudge it out to create a classic smoky eye.

Furthermore, the kohl cone comes in a pyramid shaped vial. At the tip is the block of kohl eye liner.  First, rub the kohl on the lid as an eye shadow,  However, you can also smoke out the line over your lashes.

Kohl Powder is a very black , loose shadow. Also, use it to create a smoky lash line.

Gel

Gel is much softer than Kohl.  And, it applies easily with an eye liner brush.  First, Gel gives a clean, neat finish.  Furthermore, it is usually waterproof.  In addition, it is great to use on the waterline.  Moreover, gel is long-lasting.  Additionally, the texture is not as sensitive as the liquid formula.   Although, the downsides are, it can be dull-looking.  And, gel can tug on the skin of the upper lash line.  Last, over time, the formula tends to dry out.

Pencil Gel Liner works best when used on the waterline.  The formula easily applies, without tugging on the waterline.  Use a gel if you have watery eyes.

A Gel Pot glides on the eye to create a winged eye look.  The downside is the formula dries out faster than a cream pot formula.  So, keep the lid tightly closed.

Creams

Creams have a thicker formula than gels.  Also, creams can be used as  a winged liner.  Also, creams work well on your waterline.  The downside to creams is it is more difficult to fix mistakes.

The Cream Pencil is one of the most popular types of cream products.  These pencils are great for smudging.  Also, they can be applied to the waterline.  The downside to a cream pencil is it need to be sharpened.  However, some creams do come as mechanical twist up liners.

The Cream Pot is another popular cream product.  Usually it comes in a glass jar with a twist off cap.  You will need either an angled liner brush or a small rounded eye liner brush. Most important, wet the tip of your brush before dipping it into the pot.  As a result, the brush will pick up more product.

Some Liners Have Their Own Catagories
