Four Days Left til the Big Day! Countdown Four -three – two -one
I am happy to report that Mary Kay Cosmetics is alive, well, and available in the US, as well as on a grand global scale that includes thirty five countries on five continents! According to the stats, Mary Kay has a global sales force of about 3 .5 million. If you’ve been living under a rock, Mary Kay Cosmetics has been around since the 1960’s. The products must be purchased from a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. The consultants teach you why you use a product and how it will meet your individual needs. First, and foremost, they teach women how to take care of their skin. They do this in the privacy of your own home, or in small groups where they showcase new products, and teach skincare, makeup application, and how to achieve new looks, etc. Their attitude is, “What can I do today to make you feel better about yourself?” They do this in a personal way, where they spend quality time with you at your home or at special events. Bobbie Jean and I recently attended our first Mary Kay Event. It was a skin-care-facial-makeup-application evening that culminated in photographing our own “head shots.”
When we arrived, we were greeted by our hostesses, Consultant, Victoria, and Consultant, Kelly. They offered us refreshments. One of the guests made the most outstanding lollipop cupcakes on a stick. Delicious! Then we were told to sit at one of the tables in the room. In front of each seat was our own mirror/tray with numbered wells prepared with skin-care/facial products. Very cool! We filled out forms about our skin type, etc. Then our Consultant, Victoria, put the correct products in the order of application, (numbered) , and color-tested us-for our compatible foundation match.
Kelly gave an enthusiastic talk about Mary Kay, the history up to the present, and how she became involved in the company. Kelly has been with the company for 17 years. Now, we’ve all heard about “The Pink Cadillac” that successful Mary Kay Consultants are rewarded with, but have any of us ever known a Pink Cadillac recipient? Well, now we do. Kelly represents the ideal poster-girl – she proved that anyone could rise up in the ranks of MKay and drive a pink Cadillac, because she does. And I must say, it was parked right in front of the building, and it was gorgeous! She has also been rewarded with a luxurious vacation to Rome, Italy. She makes being a Mary Kay Consultant seem as glamorous as she was! And one way that separates Mary Kay from all other Cosmetic Companies is the way the company enriches the lives of their “enthusiastic leaders”. Through Mary Kay Cosmetics, thousands of women have discovered that the company was the way for them to “live richer, fuller, lives for themselves and their families”.
Victoria was next to speak. She spoke about the importance of skincare, and described why we need to use certain products and how those products were going to meet our individual needs.
In between, the Consultants played “games” by asking us various questions. Whoever answered correctly was allowed to choose a prize from the pink prize bag. I actually won a prize, and I chose a Mary Kay Fragrance.
Bobbie Jean also won a prize, and chose a nail file.
Our personal trays held the products we needed for our mini facials. We learn why all women need to take care of their skin. Our skin is the basis for every thing else we do to make ourselves beautiful. If we have bad skin, the rest of the products won’t do you justice. It is never too late to start learning to properly care for your skin. So if you don’t already, start doing it! Skin care is the most important part of a woman’s beauty routine, because we all need “great skin” to look good. Mary Kay new this over 50 years ago, and her skincare products are technologically advanced, and age and skin-type appropriate.

You can never have skin that’s too clean. To make sure the makeup, dirt and grime is gone, Mary Kay uses the double-cleansing method. Her foam cleansers are gentle and have anti-aging ingredients that won’t strip the skin of it’s natural oils. They ensure that your skin is squeaky clean, and ready for the treatment products.
Day cream goes on after serum. This Daycream contains your spf 30 sunscreen. Victoria can’t express enough the importance of using a daily sunscreen.
Night Treatment contains the most important combatant of age; retinol. Retinol can only be used at night, because it can’t be worn in the sun.
And last, but equally important to your regime, is eye cream. The skin around the eyes is very thin, fragile, and delicate….so it is essential to use an eye cream, two times a day! I stayed in my timewise regimen, I wanted an anti aging eye cream.
