Animal testing for drugs and cosmetics began in the 1930’s because governments needed to establish whether a product, or an ingredient was safe for public health before allowing it to go on the market.  This practice was used not only to test drugs, it was used to test cosmetics even though testing for cosmetics is not required by law in the United States.

Torturing animals is still widely used to determine the safety of drugs and cosmetics.

Today, in the 21st century, nothing can justify the practice of animal testing.

You can help stop this barbaric practice.  Think about the Beagles that are the most used breed of dog for animal testing because of their gentle nature.

For cosmetics, bunnies, guinea pigs, mice and rats are the most used for product and ingredient testing.

There are well more than 7,000 safe ingredients now available to the cosmetic industry.  There are proven non-animal safety tests.  There is no reason to continue to torture animals for a face cream or a lipstick!

Here is a list of brands that do not use animal testing.  They are cruelty free.

Some brands are cruelty free.  Their parent companies still do animal testing, however. It is up to you to decide to use the cruelty free brand and disregard the parent companies practices, or only buy products that have no animal testing attached to them whatsoever.  The choice is yours.

Look for these logos on products.  They are the only authentic cruelty free logos.  Any other logos are not authentic! If the logo isn’t real, maybe the product is being passed off as cruelty free, but it hasn’t met with the full criteria of what it means to be cruelty free.

Cosmetics are supposed to make us feel good about ourselves.  How can anyone feel good when they are knowingly purchasing products that practice animal testing.  Could you feel good purchasing a cosmetic that you know has harmed and tortured  animals?  There are so many brands available that do not test on animals.  There are so many ingredients that are safe and have not been tested on animals (between five and seven thousand ingredients exist that have not been animal tested and are safe to use on humans).  The technology of this century is so advanced there is no need to test on animals anymore.  It is cruel, outdated, unethical and not necessary. Even the EU has banned animal testing.  Now it is time for the rest of the world to do the same.

You are Awesome!
