Concealers are no longer “your mother’s concealer!” For example, concealers come in all different types of formulas. Therefore, their packaging is also different. Furthermore, not all concealers conceal the same way. For instance, many concealers, such as Becca’s Under Eye Brightening Concealer come in a pot. Also, concealers can come in a tube. These concealers, such as Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, and Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Concealer, also come with a with a doe-footed applicator wand. In addition, heavy duty concealers, such as Smart Cover, come in a tube so you can apply it to larger areas. Natasha Denona’s Eye Light Concealer comes in a tube with a brush attached to it. I have found that the Illamasqua Skin Base Concealer Pen, as the name suggests, has the most unique packaging of them all, given that it comes in a pen.
You can find the Illamasqua Skin Base Concealer Pen on the Illamasqua Website. The Concealer Pen retails for $29.92.
Illamasqua Skin Base Concealer Pen Packaging
For the simple reason the Illamasqua Concealer comes in the form of a pen, it’s got to have a tip to dispense the “ink”, or in this case, the concealer.
What sets the Illamasqua “pen” apart from all of the other concealers is, the tip is metal. Not only does the tip disperse the concealer fluid, it also feels cooling on your skin. As a result, it reduces the look of under eye puffiness.
Illamasqua Skin Base Concealer Pen Formula
The Skin Base Concealer gives you high coverage and has a silky matte finish. Also impressive, the texture is creamy and it doesn’t crease. Moreover, blends seamlessly into the skin. In addition, the concealer has skin care benefits. First, Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant , helps fight free radicals, including the one caused by UV light. Furthermore, Pro-Vitamin B5 helps to balance the moisture in you skin so that it can become softer, smoother and more elastic.
Illamasqua Skin Base Concealer Pen Shades
Also important, Illamasqua Skin Base Concealer Pen comes in seven shades. First, there are two dark shades. Next, there are two different shades in medium. Last, their are three shaes in. light. As a result, you have many choices depending on your skin tone, and your undertone.
I purchased the concealer in shade medium 1.
Illamasqua Skin Base Concealer Pen Tips For Application
First, to cover blemishes, click the pen once. Use the Zamac tip to apply the concealer over the blemish. Then, using the flat edge of the pen, pat the formula to blend it into the skin.
Always moisturize around your eye area before applying your makeup. The reason for this is the area around your eye is the most delicate area on your face, First, the area has minimal fatty tissue, and water. Therefore, in order to boost moisture level, use a moisturizer, and moisturize well. Then apply your foundation. Afterwards, you can apply your concealer. Again, always apply your concealer After you’ve applied your foundation.
On the other hand, always conceal your blemishes before you apply your foundation.
Furthermore, for high coverage, use a tapping motion to apply the concealer. On the other hand, if you want to diffuse concealer to a sheer color, use a brush and apply it with a sweeping motion.
Finally, if you want to cover, or blur, dark circles under your eyes, or give your eyes a lift, follow the Triangle of Light Technique that I learned from Trish McEvoy. First, with your concealer pen, start at the inner corner of your eye. Next, draw a triangle down to your cheek, and back up to the outer corners of your eye. Last, starting at the bottom and moving up towards your lashline, pat the concealer into your skin with a concealer brush.
Last But Not Least…….
None of us are perfect. However, we can blur or cover our flaws using concealer. I use different concealers for different reasons. For instance, if I am going to a nighttime party, I would use a concealer, like the Natasha Denona, to add light or the Nars that adds radiance under my eyes. Or, I would use the Illamasqua Pen to draw on the “triangle of light.” What I love most about the Illamasqua Concealer Pen is, the pen is easy to use, and so transportable. Above all, I love the cooling feeling of the metal applicator tip, that can de-puff and conceal under your eyes. So….tell me what your favorite concealer is and why in the comments below.
