Too Faced 36 Hour Killer Liner Gel

EyelinersMakeup

One of my must have makeup products is a good eyeliner.  In fact, if I had the choice between mascara, and black eyeliner, the eyeliner wins every time!  Also, my favorite eyeliner is the Marc Jacobs Highliner.  First, I love that it is a gel. In this way, it is so easy to apply.  It glides on the eye without tugging.  Even more, I love to wear the highliner in my waterline.  Therefore, when I saw the new Too Faced 36 Hour Killer Liner Gel, I wanted to give it a try.  One they had me at Killer Liner!  Furthermore, it is a waterproof gel liner, that will give you up to 36 hours wear-time.  Last, the Killer Liner is supposed to create razor sharp lines!

You can find the Too Faced Killer Liner Gel at Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, Selfridges and the Too Faced Cosmetics Website.  Also, the Killer Liner (1.2g/ 0.04 oz.) costs $19.

The Too Faced 36 Hour Killer Liner Gel Packaging

To begin with, the outer box is a show stopper.  Killer Liner is written in black, on a vibrant pink background.  Then, a rectangular box is attached to the pink “sign”. In my case, the box, I realized, is the color of the shade of the liner that is inside. Therefore, One box is Blackest Black, the other box is Espresso Brown.  Both of the boxes have lots of gold writing, with white accents.

Then, the liner is a pink pencil, with a pink plastic lid.  Also, the bottom of the liner shows you what color the liner is.  This is a good thing, especially, if you have more than one color.  Another thing , I was fooled at first, thinking this pencil was a twist up.  Wrong!!!  Instead, it is a pencil that needs to be sharpened.  This is the only thing that bothers me.  First, the liner comes out of a plastic part of the pencil. Therefore, I wish Too Faced had told us how to sharpen this liner.  Hence, I’m guessing that you just sharpen the pencil with a makeup pencil sharpener.

The Formula For The Too Faced 36 Hour Killer Liner Gel

First, the pencil gives you total control over the liner.  Also, the waterproof formula allows you to use the liner in your waterline.  Also, it is easier to tightline your eyes if the formula is waterproof.    More, the liner glides on easily, without tugging at your sensitive eye skin.

Not only does it go on smoothly, it doesn’t dry down right away.  As a result, you have time to play.  By play, I mean you can smudge the liner out.  Even more, the liner is solidly pigmented, which means you only need one pass of the pencil to achieve your line.

Finally, the formula is gluten free, and cruelty free. And, the formula doesn’t flake, and is transfer resistant.

The Too Faced 36 Hour Killer Liner Gel Shades

To start, the Killer Liner Comes in 11 shades.  I have Black, and Espresso.  However, the shades are really fun and exciting. All of the shades have a matte finish.

First, Killer Camo, is a light olive green shade. Second, Killer Caramel, is a mid-tone warm brown shade.  Third, Killer Cashmere, is a cream nude shade.  Fourth, Killer Chocolate, has a rich mahogany brown shade.  Fifth, Killer Gingerbread, is a rustic spiced orange shade.  Sixth, Killer Queen, is a deep plum shade.  Seventh, Killer Sapphire, is a navy blue shade.  Eighth, Killer Storm, is a grey shade.  Nineth, Killer Turquoise, is an electric shade of turquoise.

The Two Shades I have are Killer Black, an intense black shade, and Killer Espresso, a black -brown shade.

My Final Thoughts On The Too Faced 36 Hour Killer Liner Gel…….

First, I am really picky when it comes to my eyeliner.  More, the Marc Jacobs Highliner has been my favorite, the one I always go to.  However, there are a lot of similarities between the Marc Jacobs, and the Too Faced Killer Liner.  One, love the that the Killer Liner’s shade range is beautiful. Although, the Marc Jacobs Highliner has an enormous range, that comes in different finishes.   Also, I love that the formula is a gel, that allows you a few seconds of playtime in both products.  However, when the gel dries down, it doesn’t move!

The one thing that separates the two products is the way you sharpen the liners.  The Marc Jacobs Liner is a twist up, and has a hidden sharpener on the bottom.  Even more, the Too Faced doesn’t twist up, and doesn’t come with a sharpener.

Marc Jacobs VS Too Faced Killer Liner Gel

Originally,  the Two Faced Liner was less money than the Highliner.  Well, not necessarily, since right now the Marc Jacobs shades on on sale for $15, for a limited time, at Sephora.  On the other hand, the Two Faced Killer Liner is $19. Although, in general, the Marc Jacobs Highliner is $26.  The packaging is way better, since you twist up the liner, and it comes with a sharpener.  Also, the Marc Jacobs comes in way more shades and finishes.  The Killer Liner has more product (1.2g/ 0.04 oz.), the Marc Jacobs Highliner (0.01 oz. / .05 g).

I really would love to hear what you guys think.  Which liner would you rather have.  In a way, they are very similar.  I still love my Marc Jacobs Highliner, even though it has less product, I love the twist up, sharpener that comes with the liner.  Please drop me a line, and let me know what you think in the comments box below.
