The Tom Ford Soleil Neige Naked Pink Eye Quad and Sunlit Rose Lip Balm, are a Limited Edition Eyeshadow Quad, and a Limit Edition Lip Balm. First, the Eyeshadow Quad in Naked Pink, along with the Sunlit Rose Lip Balm were inspired by the glacial radiance of sunkissed, winter skin! The shades in the collection are multi-dimensional, warm rosy hues with lots of sparkle. It is the perfect palette for this time of year. Holiday looks are like Christmas Wrap, always shimmery, shiny, glowing and glittery. And, this particular TF collection is more about the shimmer, and glow, and less about the color of the shades. It’s like a lot of Christmas Presents, the wrapping paper is more exciting than the actual presents inside. I spend more time wrapping the present than actually purchasing the present. For me, the wrapping is just as important, if not more important, than the gift. I’m thinkin’ the same thing about this year’s Soleil Neige Collection.
You can find the Tom Ford Soleil Neige Naked Pink Eye Quad, and Sunlit Rose Lip Balm at Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Beautylish , Macy’s, and on the Tom Ford Beauty Website. The Soleil Neige Naked Pink Quad, (0.3 oz. / 9g) costs $89. The Sunlit Rose Lip Balm ( .1 oz. / 3g) costs $58.
Packaging
The packaging, a limited edition chrome-effect, was inspired by the radiance of the Fragrance, Soleil Neige. Hence, the crystalline packaging. The outer boxes, for both the eye quad and the lip balm, are white with silver writing. Then, both plastic cases, for the eye quad and the lip balm, are also white.with chrome embellishments. Even more, the compact and lipstick case feel weighty. and substantial.
First, the compat comes in a white dust bag. The compact opens by simply pulling up on the lid. Then, to close, gently push down on the lid. The palette has a strong magnetic closure, that will do the rest of the work. Inside, underneath the lid, is a nice, large mirror. On the opposite side from the mirror are four eyeshadow pans and shades.
Also included with the palette are two dual-ended applicators, a combination of sponges and a brush.
Next, the rectangular lipstick case is easy top open, simply by pulling up on the lid. Then, to close, push down on the lid until you hear it snap closed. Inside the case, simply turn the tube counter clockwise to bring the lipstick up. Then, to close, turn the tube clockwise, to bring it down.
Formulas
This is not a palette for the fingers.
I used a tight bristle eye shadow brush for better results. The bristles were able to grab and pick up the pigments for more color payoff.
To begin with, the formula for the eyeshadow shades is not, repeat, not, the wet-dry formula. It is the regular, firmly pressed powder formula, from Tom Ford. Also, I am disappointed that the shade pigments are semi-sheer. It is a shame that a palette that is supposed to shine, glitter and sparkle, doesn’t have enough oomph for a more pigmented holiday look. Although, forget the pigments, I am disappointed that you can’t really amp up the finishes the way you would with a wet, dry formula. My only advice is to wear an eyeshadow primer, or concealer, on your eyes, to better help with the color showing up.
The shades blend and layer easily. I must say, it is unusual for Tom Ford to create an eyeshadow palette with shades, that even in the palette, look light. Although, if you have the fairest of the fair complexion, you will love this palette! However, if you are between light-medium to deep, you better try it first. I doubt the shades will show up on your complexions. It doesn’t do a whole lot for my complexion. I guess it all depends on the way you like to wear your makeup.
First, the lipstick has an overspray that gives it a soft pink glow. The formula feels semi-thick, like a balm, or a lipstick texture. Then, the lip balm formula, the counterpart to the eyeshadow quad, is also sheer. In fact, it bathes your lips in sheer moisture, with an ever so slight hint of sultry pink that compliments your own lip color. The sheer to pink formula moisturizes, hydrates an shines your lips. Therefore, your lips will look plumper.
The Naked Pink Eye Quad Shades
Top Row Across
Left shade, a champagne shade, has a satin shimmery finish. Wear this shade as a highlighter, on the inner corners of your eyes. Also, wear this highlighter shade on your brow bone. Also, you can use this shade as a base all over your eyelids. Last, wear the Champagne shimmer as a transition shade. This is definitely a visible shade that has a sheen.
Right Shade, a soft, cool pink beige shade, has a matte finish. Wear this pale matte shade all ovr your eyes as a base shade. The shade blends beautifully, so you can use it as a transition shade. If you are really pale, you can use it as a crease shade.
Bottom Row Across
Left Shade, a pale rose shade, has a glitter finish. This shade is your shade topper. Wear it all over another shade, all over your eyelids. Also, wear it in the centers of your eyelids.
Right Shade, a soft rose shade with copper undertones, has a satin shimmer finish. I would love this shade on its own, all over the eyelids, in the crease, and on the outer corners of your eyes. Still, you can use the champagne shade on the inner corners of your eyelids.
Sunlit Rose Lip Balm
The lip balm is sheer, with a sultry-pink hue, that complements your lips. Again, it starts off with a beautiful overspray, which quickly wears off with wear.
You can layer this lip balm with a lip liner.
Or, you can wear the lip balm over your lipstick. It doesn’t have the longest wear-time, as most lip balms don’t.
Finally, for me, a medium-light complexion with neutral undertones, this palette is too sheer to do a color eyeshadow look. However, if I wanted to go with pure finishes, I could go there, wear the shades for the finishes, and that would give me a multidimensional, glowing look.I think I’ll do it! Like I said, perfect for the holidays.
