Have you counted all of the ways we learned, last year, how to contour? Are any of you still so obsessed with contouring that you’d learn the newest contouring trend for 2017? Dot Contouring is another new way to contour- trending in 2017 and gaining popularity. Dot Contouring is exactly what it sounds like. Highlights, shadows and mid tones are applied to the skin in small dots. Then the dots are blended for perfect definition. How about trying it!
Here is what you’ll need :
a cream or liquid highlighter that is two shades lighter than your skin tone
a foundation that matches your skin tone
a contour shading color
a Q-Tip or a rounded tip brush to apply everything
a beauty blender sponge or a blending brush
a translucent powder to set and finish the look
Here is what you’ll do:
Dot the highlight (two shades lighter than your skin) shade on the places on your face where light naturally hits. These places include under your eyes, down your nose, on your forehead, along your upper lip and under your cheekbone.
Dot on the contour shade where you want shadowing, down the sides of your nose, along your jawline, along the hollows of your cheekbones, on your temples and along your hairline.
If you want to combine draping (contouring with two shades of blush, with dot contouring , you do the same dots with your blushes.
Anywhere on your face that there is not a highlight dot, nor a contour dot, dot your skin with your foundation (the mid-tone).
Use a beauty blender or a blending brush to first, blend your highlights, then your mid-tones, and last, your contours.
It is really important to blend this look, and blend it really well! So when you think you’ve finished blending, you didn’t, so keep blending until your arm gets tired!
And finally, add translucent power, a shimmery highlight along your cheekbones, and a bright lipstick to complete the look.
The dot contouring method is the perfect technique to use when you want to look amazing in photos and in your instagrams. In person, you may look like you have an awfully lot of makeup on, unless you blend, blend, and blend some more!!!!!!
Let us know in the comments below what you think about the dot contouring method! Have you tried it? Did you like your results? Would you try it?
You Are Awesome!
