I am always looking for fun and unique products, and I think this is a good one! Make Up For Ever Artistic Lip Ink and Brush Set ($40) is inspired by the traditional art of calligraphy which you’ll see in the packaging, formula, and application .
The packaging is really awesome, the bottle looks like the ink bottle a calligrapher would use, and it comes with a paint brush (the artistic part). They are packaged in a great-looking tin. I love the way they packaged this!
You get a full-sized lip brush in the set.
The lip ink comes only in a gorgeous, vibrant , blue-red, true red matte shade that is the most perfect shade for the holidays! Gorgeous!!!
This is a powerful matte red lip. It looks like velvet once it dries. And it has long -wearing staying power.
The formula is a liquid-the consistency is what you would find in an ink bottle.. It is a bit watery at first, so a little goes a long way. The secret to controlling the liquid is to put very little on the brush, and start in the middle of the lips, instead of on the ends. Once it dries on the lips it doesn’t feather out. If you do this, the paint will start to dry a bit on the brush, and that is when I would outline the lips. An easier way to do this is to simply use a lip-liner pencil to line the lips. That will prevent the color from feathering. Once dry, it will not bleed, It will look smooth and opaque. There is a little color transfer.
I love this lip paint for many reasons. It is so different from all the others out on the market, the innovative calligraphic concept really sets it apart from the rest. If you feel intimidated to try this, don’t be! It is really easy to use. Don’t over saturate the brush, and use a lip liner, and layer it if you want. It will go on smoother if you prep your lips first (which you should do before wearing vibrant shades anyways!) Exfoliate them first, and use a lip primer. I exfoliate mine with Jeffrey Stars Velour Lip Scrubs. If you do this, you will have a exquisite sexy and powerful red lips for hours. It doesn’t dry your lips like some of the other liquid lipsticks. The only downside to the lip ink is that it is not so portable like a lipstick tube. You can carry it in your bag inside of the tin if you need to take it with you. It lasts a long time, it is a lot of fun, it makes a great gift, and it is gorgeous on your lips!
