I love anything to do with Outer Space. I Love anything to do with Pat McGrath. Dark Star 06, Pat McGrath’s new Spring Launch, is from the heavens, and I am obsessed. I can’t say Pat McGrath outdid herself this time, because when has she even not outdone anything she touches (she is famous for only using her fingers when she applies makeup!) The Dark Star 06 trio of tech-noir eye kits go beyond any eye shadows I’ve ever seen (in this world).
Like I said, what do we expect? She is the goddess of all things art, and all things makeup!!!!!! She is a genius! She is THE makeup artist of our generation, and her latest launch is the most beautiful makeup I have ever seen! I know I have never been this excited about a collection before!
There are three Dark Star 06 eye shadow kits in the collection: Ultra-Violet Blue (OMG! just sayin’) Ultra Suede Brown (Wowzy!) and the kit that doesn’t contain the Ultra Suede or Ultra Violet Blue Shadows, but has everything else that is in the kits, but is less money, Dark Matter (o.k. ground control to Major Tom, you need this!) 
Before I get even more carried away, you can get the Dark Star 06 Trio of eye kits just (click here)! The two palettes with seven pieces, Ultra Violet Blue and Ultra Suede Brown are $130 each. Dark matter has the same six pieces the Ultra’s have, without a colored pigment, and it sells for $95.

Even the way Pat McGrath packages her kits is out of this world! Each kit is inspired by authentic cosmetic lab samples and packed with her signature couture sequins.
Pat McGrath appeals to our “Deepest Darkest Beauty Desires.” Pat says they are for “intergalactic-inspired glamour.” She creates “lustrous mutational pigments, clear holographic cyber gloss, black smudge liner for smoky eye perfection, a blender brush to capture and project pigment in order to transform the eyes with radiant interstellar illumination”. 
All you need to do is to choose either of the 2 featured pigments, Ultra Violet Blue, or Ultra Suede Brown,
The pigments in all three kits , shades :
mercury is a lustrous pewter pigment
Dark Matter is a black matte pigment with a touch of glitter
Astral White is a shiny pearlescent white pigment
Cyber Clear is the perfect, shiny holographic eye gloss
Black Smudge Liner is matte black khol eye liner
Ultra Suede Brown Kit also contains the shade Ultra Suede Brown Pigment
Ultra Violet Blue Kit also contains the shade Ultra Violet Blue Pigment

Pat McGrath also includes a pamphlet with suggestions on how to use the kits.
She suggests that to create a base, use the Dark Matter (matte black) shade on the lids. Use your fingers (that’s how she does it) or a brush to blend the shadow to create a smoldering look of depth and dimension.
Now you can elevate the shade with the polished pigments. Glide them on and blend them seamlessly. Use the color morphing prismatic shine pigments.

Last, layer the Cyber Gloss for a chromatic eclipse of holographic light reflection.
