Le Labo is a fragrance experience that has been around since 2006. I recently had the opportunity to experience Le Labo at Nordstroms, where they recently opened a Petite Lab in the Cosmetics Department. I purchased Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31 at Nordstroms or you can purchase at Le Labo Fragrances (1.7 oz $180, 3.4 oz $265).
The basic idea of the line is that each of the fragrances takes it’s name from it’s main component, and it’s number from the number of ingredients used to create it. First, you decide which fragrance you desire. There are 15 fragrances to choose from in the collection. I like a warm, spicy fragrances, the reason I chose Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31, which , as well as being warm and spicy, has an edgy quality to it. Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31 gets it’s name from it’s main component, Rose , and the number of ingredients in the perfume, 31.
All of the Le Labo Fragrances are compounded fresh at the tie of your purchase.
On my Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31, I chose my message to say HBD (Happy Birthday) to me!
Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31
The top notes of Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31, which appear at the tip of the fragrance pyramid, are explosive. They are Notes Rose Absolute, Rose Essence, and Caraway/Cumin. These notes smell for the first 15 minutes after you spray the fragrance on. Then they fade. When they fade you are at the “Heart” of the fragrance. There you find the heaviest of the ingredients, which you can not smell for the first 15 minutes of application, when you are smelling the seductive tip notes that are super prevalent.
The middle notes, the heart of Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31 is Rose Vetiver, and Cedar. The heart is less volatile, and the scent lasts one to two hours after spraying the fragrance on. Last, is the base, the bottom steps of the fragrance pyramid. These are the notes that last. The base notes are what you smell on your sweater hours after the first spritz. The bottom notes of Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31 are Musk, Quaiac Wood, Olibanem, Labanum, and Oud.
Le Labo crafts well balanced fragrances
The Top Notes, and The Heart of Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31 are the high points of this fragrance. If you love spicy rose and cedar, this is the one to purchase. The Bottom notes, which is when the fragrance dries down, disappointed me. The first few hours smelled great – an interesting take on a spicy rose. The bottom notes smelled “barely there.” Very faint, and since I am not wearing a sweater, I don’t think it would smell like much on the sweater.
I am wearing a knit blouse, and the smell is extremely faint. I am the type that love the smell of my fragrance on my sweater, and I must admit, it’s not happening. Also, many wearers of their most popular scents, Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31, have mixed feeling about the rose scent. Some smell rose, some do not. Le Labo crafts well balanced fragrances . They use the highest caliber ingredients at the highest concentrations. In fact, Rose 31 features rose petals plucked by hand in Grasse, France. That is not just any old rose petal.
Le Labo, The Experience
Le Labo focuses on THE EXPERIENCE, a high quality , more personalized, purchase than buying fragrance at a Department Store Fragrance Counter. Also, the Le Labo fragrances at made to order. I guess you could say, they’ve got a gimmick goin’ on, which is their focus is on a deeply personal experience for their customer. This way they can charge higher prices than other perfumes and fragrances on the market. They don’t just sell you a pretty bottle. In fact, their bottle is quite simple, as is their label. But, someone has to make your fresh bottle and personalize it for you, with the date of your experience, and a special message, or your name on the label.
Sum
If you love your fragrance, it also comes in a shower gel, a body lotion, a massage oil, a room freshener, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and candles. I was out for dinner tonight, and I had our guests smelling me, and I couldn’t believe that one of my guests recognized Le Labo Fragrance Rose 31 as the exact fragrance she received as shampoo, body lotion, soap, and conditioner in her hotel room at the Fairmont Hotel in California. She also loves the scent. I can’t wait to try the candle, and the massage oil, and even a room freshener! How about you? Tell me if you have tried Le Labo, and if so ,what is your fragrance experience? See you in the comments below!
