Christian Louboutin Loubilaque Lip Lacquer ($85), his newest addition to the world of makeup, is the most dramatic product yet in his expanding beauty line. Not long ago I wrote about Christian Louboutin’s extraordinary lipstick. (Click here to read.) Now he has come up with a formula that is part lipstick, part gloss, and all drama, It is couture-perfect , which should make his fashionista followers very happy indeed.
Christian Louboutin was actually inspired by a red lacquer nail polish, which became the catalyst, that inspired him to create the status symbol for his brand, the infamous red sole on all of his shoes. His love for mirror-like oriental surfaces made of shiny lacquer inspired many of his designs. For his latest venture, he took his love affair with lacquer even further by extending it to his cosmetic line, with his newest addition; Loubilaque Lip Lacquer.
The eight shades of Loubilaque range from nude to bright. Also included in the eight shades is Rouge Louboutin, the infamous shade of red that is Christian Louboutin! This is the shade that I purchased.
The packaging is unique. In fact it is down-right opulent! The actual bottle is designed as an object d’art, with a thick clear ampule with the walls carved with the intricate design of scales in a pattern reminiscent of a mermaid’s tail. The lid to the ampule is equally opulent, in gold with silver beading. Again, the Rouge Louboutin is stands alone with silver lid with gold beading.
The lacquered lip gloss is specially formulated to reflect light, so the formula causes each color to take on a dimensional brilliance. Each color is very, very rich because they are created with a technologically advanced pigment technology. The formula also delivers the embodiment of a patent leather shine.
The diamond shaped doe-foot applicator is incredible for an applicator. Is is the perfect size to provide a precise, smooth, and easy application. It provides such a great application, you won’t even need a lip-liner!
What I like about Christian Louboutin Loubilaque Lip Lacquer is…….it is a real luxury product. The price alone alludes to the fact that it is something really special. This Lip Lacquer is unique. The packaging alone sets this apart from the other lip lacquers on the market. The packaging is opulent and unique. It is expensive, and I mean, this is a high end lip lacquer! I don’t think any of us has ever seen anything like it. The application is superb because design of the doe-tip is designed so well, a precise easy application leaves your lips smooth, and you don’t even need a lip liner! The formula is amazing. Each color is super flattering, richly pigmented, sun- shiny, thick and luxurious. I love the bright, vibrant colors of the lacquers. I love the bold glaze the lacquers leave on the lips. And, it leaves the lips feeling very moisturized, and never sticky. It does have a strong scent when first applied. It dissipates, but still leaves a faint scent. I thought it smelled good. And I love that it can be applied with just one coat, and your lips will have a smooth, opaque, patent leather shine. How French is That! Very Upscale if you ask me!
