A few years ago, Estee Lauder did a makeup capsule collaboration with Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice!). Even more, it was a sell-out. Therefore, it was a huge success! Hence, it was the number 1 makeup collaboration of that year. Therefore, in 2017, the Estee Lauder/Victoria Beckham collection was re-launched. Only, this time, they added two new products! Today, Victoria has her own makeup collection. All I can say is, it is a luxury performance makeup. Furthermore, Victoria’s star product is her Smoky Eye Brick. Moreover, the Smoky Eye Brick comes in four different palettes. Each palette is curated with four eyeshadow shades.
In addition, all of the makeup is Clean Beauty. Although, so far, there hasn’t been a clear definition of what clean beauty actually means. However, I can say this. Clean Beauty is makeup that doesn’t have any of the ingredients you wouldn’t want in your makeup in the first place. In other words, the products don’t use harsh chemicals. In fact, Victoria’s makeup has nothing in it we can’t pronounce! Unlike some other well-known brands, Victoria’s makeup doesn’t use ingredients that embalm dead bodies. And, another trick makeup brands do is put dyes in eyeshadows that can’t be used on the eyes. Got it? And, the brand it is cruelty free.
You can purchase Victoria Beckham’s makeup, and skincare line on the Victoria Beckham Website. Also, you can find the whole line on the Violet Grey Website. The Smoky Eye Brick costs $54. To go with it, her Satin Kajal Liner in Bronze costs $26. The pencil needs sharpening. So, the VB pencil sharpener costs $21.
Victoria Beckham Smoky Eye Brick Packaging
For one thing, Victoria is environmentally conscious. As a result, her packaging is a reflection of that. So, her outer packaging boxes are , in fact, post-consumer waste, secondary packaging. And, the packaging is either recyclable, or biodegradable. Her orders come in a reusable canvas bag. I love the bag, It is large enough to hold your makeup, in your handbag, or suitcase.
Another thing Victoria has done, is minimize the size of her palettes. Yet, she does so without minimizing the product inside. In fact her tres chic compact case, is made out of plastic. However, Victoria minimizes the amount of plastic she uses. In other words, she is streamlining her packaging to save on waste. As a result, the case is about the size of a credit card.
Also, it is super thin.
The front of the case is faux tortoiseshell. On one side, the palette has a full size mirror.
On the other side of the mirror, the palette has 4 eyeshadows. Furthermore, all four shadows are pressed together in one pan.
Smoky Eye Brick Shadows and What to Do With Them
Moreover, the four eyeshadows are different sizes, depending on their “usage quota!” In other words, you would use the first shade most . First, you would use it as a base for your eyeshadow. So, you would put it all over your eyes. Also, this is the lightest shade in the group of 4. Therefore, you could use this shade to highlight under your brow bones, or the inner corners of your eyes. Even more, it could be used as a transitional color.
Shade two is the next lightest shade in the palette. Also, it is about half as much product as the first shade. This would look great all over your eyes. Also, you could carry it up to the crease. This shade is perfect for your daytime look.
Third, shade three, is the darkest shade in all the palettes. Even more, it is the smallest amount of product in the palette. First, the darkest shade is a great definer. Therefore, I like to line my lower lash lines with the darkest shade. Also, this dark shade will add more definition to the outer corners of my eyes. This shade is perfect for a night time look. Amp up any of your looks with this dark shade.
Fourth, shade number four is about the same size as shade number 2. I would wear this , the third darkest shade, on my eyelids. Also, wear it in your crease. You could line your lower lash lines with this shade.
The Smoky Eye Brick Formula
First, the shadows are pressed , using a unique pressing technology ,into the credit card sized pan. In this way, the technology maximizes the amount of product, in minimal space. The eyeshadow formula includes the finest milled powders. Then, the powders are pressed into the palette. As a result, the shadows have a smooth texture. The formula is creamy, so the shadows are easy to apply. Even more, the shades are easy to blend, and easy to layer. Furthermore, intense color pigments create rich shades that are long-lasting. They have great color-payoff. Also, they don’t crease. And, they won’t travel all over your face.
Smoky Eye Brick Shades
Signature Palette
Cami, a neutral beige shade, has a smooth matte finish.
Slip, a soft peachy-pink shade, has a smooth matte finish.
Saddle, a deep brown saddle shade, has a smooth matte finish.
Suede, a medium taupe shade, has a smooth matte finish.
The signature palette is the most neutral of the four palettes. Therefore, it creates great looks for daytime wear. Although, you can amp it up bu layering the deepest shade, Saddle, over the lighter shades. Use Saddle to line your lower lash lines. Also, use Saddle in your crease. And, put saddle in the outer corners of your eyes. Voila, you just went from day to night!
Tweed Palette
Caramel, a warm, light caramel shade, has some bits of silver fleck in it. However, the silver doesn’t show up on your eyes. So, the finish is matte.
Cashmere, a warm, deep, plummy-brown shade, has tiny bits of shimmer. Although, the shimmer doesn’t show up on your eyes. Instead, you’ll have a matte finish.
Oxblood, a warm, deep plum shade, has a matte finish.
Rust, a rich, rusty red shade, has a matte finish. This shade will add warmth to your look.
First, when I saw this palette for the first time, I was in love with these shades. For one thing, all I can think about is autumn sweaters, and blazers. This is the perfect fall palette. I am not sure why the formula has slight bits of silver fleck, or shimmer. Since, it doesn’t show up on the eye! I love the warmth, and the terra cotta vibes of this palette.
Tuxedo Palette
Blanc, a basic cream shade that brings light, and brightens the face, has a matte finish.
Rain, a soft grey neutral shade, has a matte finish.
Noir, a deep, dark black shade, has a matte finish.
Fumee, a cool taupe shade with very fine silver sparkle, has a matte finish. Even more, the sparkle doesn’t show up on your eyes.
Tuxedo is a great palette to keep for your black-tie affairs. It is a dressed up palette. Also, it is a cool toned palette.
The last palette, Royal, is a blue-based palette. I haven’t purchased it yet. Altough, I love blue, so I’m sure I’ll get one at some point.
My Final Thoughts On Victoria Beckham’s Smoky Eye Brick……
One last thing I need to talk about is the Satin Kajal Liner.
It is a gorgeous eye liner pencil.
It is soft, and smooth.
It gives the most beautiful perfect, imperfect eye line.
I purchased the shade bronze. Although, it comes in black as well. The only thing I am not crazy about is you have to sharpen the pencil.
So, I purchased the VB pencil sharpener. It did a great job sharpening the tip of the pencil. And, it brought the point of the pencil back.
Victoria Beckham has created a really classy line of makeup. I love the idea of the Smoky Eye Brick. Also, I appreciate how environmentally conscious she was with her packaging. Also, I love that it is clean makeup. The quality of her eyeshadows is impressive. It is hard to find a clean, ethical product that has the feel, durability, application and look of a regular premium brand. I really think Victoria has nailed it with this line of makeup.
