I often tell you that I can’t live without my blushes. So, I was looking for something new, and I stumbled upon the Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush. Moreover, Surratt Beauty is New York Makeup artist, Troy Surratt’s, makeup brand. Furthermore, Surratt was apprentice to, the late distinguished makeup artist, Kevyn Aucoin. As a result, he learned from one of the best! Recently, I’ve been wearing the Surratt Dew Drops Foundation. The thing I love most about Troy Surratt’s makeup is he combines a little bit of Paris elegance with a little bit of Tokyo innovation. Troy Surratt loves Japanese minimalism. As a result, Surratt Beauty is into the Japanese tradition of minimal elegance.
You can purchase Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush at Sephora, Beautylish, Bloomingdales, Space NK, and on Surratt Beauty’s Website. And the Artistique Blush, 0 .14 oz costs $32.
Packaging For Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush
To begin with, the packaging isn’t travel-worthy. Nor is it luxurious. And, it isn’t user-friendly. However, Surratt didn’t intend for you to use the blush in this packaging. In fact, the packaging is what you would call, “refill” packaging. The reason is, you are really purchasing a refill blush.
All along, Surratt’s intention was for you to put the refill into the Surratt Artistique Refillable Artist’s Palette. And, no, it doesn’t come with the tiny box you are getting.
Instead, you have to purchase the Artist’s Palette separately! And, it costs $25. Or, it will cost $20 for the petit Artist Palette.
However, I was able to put three of my blushes into one Artist Palette. Although, you could put a blush and some eye shadows in the Artist Palette. It is really up to you. Surratt wants you to be the artist. So, you have to create your own artist palette.
Surratt Beauty Artistique Palette
On the other hand, you could keep your blush in the flimsy, plastic matchbook palette that it comes in. Do you remember the wooden matches that came in a box? The lid slid back and fourth. Well, that is an example of the ARTISTIQUE Palettes .
Although, if you push the lid too much, it will come off. Worse, it took me a few minutes to get it back on. Moreover, the blush is so tiny, knowing how I am, I’d lose it.
Therefore, I purchased two of the Artist Palettes. The good thing about the artist palette is it has a double-lock closure.
Therefore, the double lock closure prevents spills! Even more, I love that the palette has a full sized mirror.
The thing I don’t like about the palette is it is not magnetic. As a result, the blush has sticky tape . on the back. All you have to do is pull off the tape. Then, stick the refill into the palette. And, pray that it sticks! Surratt, inspired by Japanese minimalism, created the lightweight and recyclable palette.
Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush Formula
Because Surratt loves Japanese makeup, he used the Japanese formula, slurry, to make his blush. Furthermore, Slurry is a process where the Japanese use liquid powders to fill the pans. On the other hand, they do not press dry powders into the pan. Above all, it is well-known , that the Japanese create excellent formulas. And Surratt’s formula is excellent. Some of the blush shades have bolder pigments than others. Although, the subtle shades are buildable. I love how the blush melds with your skin. Therefore, it doesn’t sit on top of your skin. It seamlessly meshes with the skin. The texture of the formula feels whipped. The reason is, the blushes have a soft, smooth creamy feel. Last, for those of you who don’t like glitter, this is perfect because there is no glitter in the ingredients. Last, I love that the blush held up for a long time. Awesome!

Classique
Next, Classique, a warm magenta shade, has a satin finish. Furthermore, the satin finish creates a natural, glowing finish.
La Vie En Rose
Third, La Vie En Rose, a soft rose shade, has a satin finish. In fact, La Vie En Rose appears to have a natural-looking glowing finish.
Ponceau
Fourth, Ponceau, a pink-poppy shade, has a luminous finish.
Rouger
Fifth, Rouger, a deep berry shade, has a satin finish. Rouger is my go-to shade.
I have medium to tan complexion. Rouger has rich pigments that really show up on me. Although, it doesn’t look like I have clown makeup on. Instead, I still have that glow from within feeling.
Se Pompommer
Then, Se Pompommer, a dolly pink shade, has a satin finish. For one thing, if you are really fair, you can sheer Pompommer out. Although, if you are medium or more, you can layer it to the intensity you want.
Tu Mais Fais Rougir
Last, I purchased Tu Me Fais Rougir, a warm bright pink shade, that has a satin finish.
Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush Last But Not Least……
Last of all, if you love building your own makeup palettes, then the Surratt Artistique Blush and Palette, (costing $57 in total), is worth it.
For one thing, the Surratt Bush Formula is better than most formulas out there. It is a powder. However, it is not chalky! Also, it goes on, and practically blends by itself! Although, I agree it is a big expense. And, to make it really work well, you have to get the Artistique Palette. Do you need an empty palette? Only if you want to purchase some Surratt eye shadow singles, or another blush or two. So, I leave it up to you. And, I would love to hear from you. I appreciate your feedback! So, leave me a note in the comments below, or stop by to say hi!
