It’s a summer ” must have in your repertoire” technique called Sandbagging. It has been made popular once again, by Kim Kardashian, who is the Queen of makeup/contouring trends.
It is basically a technique to sop up grease. The idea being, the sandbagging technique is meant to absorb oils from the skin and make certain that those areas will stay ultra smooth and matte throughout the day.
Sandbagging got the name as an ode to sandbags (you know-the burlap sack kind) that are used to prevent flooding.
In addition to sopping up excess oil, sandbagging also ensures that your eye makeup , and lipstick won’t melt outside the lines.
Create a dam beneath the lower lash line to prevent any products such as pencils, khols, eye shadows and lipsticks, from straying and smearing outside the lines.
Step 1 – slick on your under eye concealer, and your foundation
Step 2 – use a damp makeup sponge, or a damp beauty blender to cake on translucent loose powder, such as RMCA, and if you want a highlight, use a loose powder with color
Step 3 -focus on the areas under your eyes and the bottom edges of your lips and push the powder under the eye going as close as you can to the waterline
Step 4 – The powder needs to set for a few minutes
Voila! After you’ve brushed away the excess powder you are good to go!
For the area around your eye, while doing the sandbag technique remember to keep your eye area very still while the powder is setting. Andy squinching, smiling, or any other facial expressions can cause the skin to crinkle- which would create cracks and lines in your concealer!
If you hate when your eye makeup smears, and your lipstick travels out of the lines, this is an amazing technique that works!
You Are Awesome!
We miss you already, and can’t wait to see you soon!
