Listen Up! You must must must clean those makeup brushes of yours, or else……..
Bacteria Build Up will occur. Bacteria loves moist environments so those dense synthetic brushes we use for foundation and cream products, AND our beauty blenders really need to be cleaned EVERY NIGHT!
Acne and Breakouts will occur because pimples LOVE excess bacteria! Excess dirt and bacteria clogs pores and causes breakouts in the first place!
Dirty Brushes put bacteria onto our skin, and swirling the brush around the face embeds the bacteria back into the pores!
Germs and grime can cause major irritation, roughness and redness to our skin.
Did You Know you could get a viral illness from your dirty brushes? How??
Bacteria doesn’t just clog your pores, and it doesn’t just give you pimples, it can get into your system through your pores and actually give you infections or the flu. If your brushes are clean, it will reduce the bacteria that makes you sick, so it will reduce your chances of getting sick!
This is really disgusting, but it has been known to happen. Your brushes could get an infestation of bugs if they are not washed. Bugs occur in unwashed moist sponges as well.
When makeup is applied with dirty brushes you are not getting an optimal application. Unclean brushes distort the shade of a product, and distribute it unevenly. For precise application you must keep those brushes clean.
Have you seen how expensive makeup brushes are these days? Cleaning our brushes on a regular basis keeps the bristles shiny and intact! If you clean your brushes properly, you will have them for a long time.
Spot cleaning, using a spray on fast cleaning cleanser after each time we use a brush still isn’t a substitute for deep cleaning. It removes pigment and makeup but it doesn’t thoroughly cleanse to remove bacteria.
There are a few ways to clean your dirty, bacteria ridden makeup brushes. I prefer the Michelle Phan method. Michelle is a makeup guru who emphasizes the importance of cleaning makeup brushes. Michelle was inspired from an oil painting class, where she learned a technique to clean her painting brushes and applied it to her makeup brushes.
You need :
Antibacterial Dishwashing Soap to disinfect the Brush
Olive Oil to re- condition the brush
a plate to mix the two!
swish the filthy brush into the detergent/olive oil solution to get the solution all over the brush.
Remove pigments by wiping the brush back and forth on your hand
Use Warm Water to Rinse, not Hot!
Use towel or paper towel to soak up excess water
Brushes must be dried upside down to prevent excess water dripping back to the handle and loosening the glue on the brush
it is helpful if a brush guard ($7.99) is placed on the brush itself to keep the brush intact, like it was when you bought it!
other ways to dry brushes are:
other brush cleaning methods are:
It is crucial to deep clean your Foundation Brushes, and sponges, and any brush that becomes damp using creams, or liquid makeup once a day! Bacteria loves moisture!!!!!!!
Powder Brushes can go a little longer, still clean them at least once or twice a week to prevent bacteria!
Don’t forget to clean the handles of your brushes while you’re at it!
