I love the Nars Holiday Collection. Especially the newbies. The New Rising Star Cheek Palette includes six, new, limited edition blush shades. That’s always fun, especially if you love blush as much as I do! Plus, I prefer the Nars holiday packaging, which is always special and more exciting than the standard black packaging. This Holiday Collection is all about Stars. The collection also includes the Stargaze Eyeshadow Palette, One Starstruck Audacious Lipstick in a new warm beige shade, and an Oversized All Star Orgasm Blush in the Star-Embellished Holiday Packaging! (Same Blush, bigger size, in holiday packaging!)
I Always Love Holiday Packaging! The Nars Holiday Collection comes in the traditional black Nars box, with Nars written in gold across the box. The box is subtly decorated with charcoal grey stars, that provide a background to the gold Nars logo. The stars are all over the outer box. The outer box is recyclable. The Nars plastic packaging is often made from #1 (PET) or #5 (PP) plastics and is recyclable. NARS has partnered with TerraCycle and the Plastic Soup Foundation to divert cosmetics containers from landfills, incinerators, and oceans through a recycling program that reuses these materials for consumer products. Finally, the plastic case is recyclable. The case has gold stars, surrounding the gold Nars logo, all over the front cover. There is a spot in the center, where the two sides of the palette meet, for you to gently pull the lid open, and push the lid closed. Inside, underneath the lid is a nice, full-sized mirror. On the other side of the mirror are the six blush pans, in two horizontal rows of three pans in each row. Also, the blushes are embossed with stars.
The Blush formula is a translucent, micro-spheres suspend pure pigments that create a lightweight, pressed powder, with maximum color payoff. The formula is long-wearing, and has a radiant matte finish. It is difficult to get the blush on a blush blush. You need to use a stiffer blush to pick up product.
Then, you need to build and layer until you achieve the color payoff you want.
I like a lot of blush, so I need at least two, layers. Also, you can mix and match shades together to create a more dramatic look. Even more, you can blend two shades together for a multidimensional look. Remember, the colors are vibrant, but they are not heavy. You need to layer if you want to achieve the pan color. Otherwise, if you prefer a lightweight look, you just need one swipe.
The Shades
Row 1 Across (left to right)
The shades on the top row are Pleasure, Famous, and Golden Age.
Guilty Pleasure
Guilty Pleasure, a rose gold shade, has a radiant matte finish. Pleasure is a very light shade, that should be used as a highlighter.
Famous
Famous, a bright pink shade, has a radiant matte finish. Famous can be diffused with Premiere ( bordeaux red shade) for a natural look.
Golden Age
Golden Age, a cool fuschia shade, has a radiant matte finish. Apply Golden Age to the apples of your cheeks. then apply Limelight to the hollows of your cheeks.
Row 2 Across (left to right)
The shades on the bottom row are Limelight, Paramount, and Premiere.
Limelight
Limelight, a pink mauve shade, has a radiant matte finish. Limelight can be used as a blush, or as a contour shade, in the hollows of your cheeks, to add depth to any look.
Paramount
Paramount, a peachy coral shade, has a radiant matte finish. Paramount can be worn on the apples of your cheeks. You can diffuse Limelight with Paramount to create a new look.
Premiere
Premiere, a bordeaux red shade, has a radiant matte finish. Premiere, can be worn on the apples of your cheeks, or mixed with Famous.
Finally, this palette is so giftable because it is an all season palette, where the shades can be worn year round. The shades are gorgeous! There is a variety of shade colors that are blendable, and buildable on their own, or they can be mixed with other colors in the palette for a more dramatic look. Make sure you use a stiffer brush to grab the powder.
