Lune + Aster PowerLips Quick Stick, Liquid Lipstick

I popped into our local Blue Mercury store to purchase a sunscreen for my trip to South America.  I thought it would be hot and sunny on the Southern Continent.  It wasn’t.  Instead, of Spring, it was Autumn and the weather was chilly and overcast (especially in Argentina).  Anyway, I ended up purchasing lots of goodies to take with me.  One product that really caught my eye was the Lune + Aster Powerlips.  First of all, Powerlips comes in two beautiful formulas, Quick Stick and Liquid Lipstick.  So, I admit, they had me at Powerlips!  The reason being, I started my blog because I believe makeup, specifically lipstick, has always been a tool that empowers women. In other words, it is our warpaint!  Therefore, PowerLips, the lipsticks and the concept, are so IT for me!  Hence, I purchased two shades in each formula. Powerlips Quick Stick ($24) and Liquid Lipstick ($22), and the rest of the Lune + Aster Line is sold at Blue Mercury.

Blue!  Blue, the dark-blue midnight sky shade, is my favorite color!  Marla Beck, the founder and CEO of Blue Mercury, also co-founded  Lune + Aster Cosmetics, And, I am pretty sure her favorite color is also blue!

Therefore, the packaging is awesome midnight sky blue.  So, the boxes are blue with silver (like the stars) and pink (for women?) print.

I’m thinking the packaging is pretty simple.  However, think Blue, as in Blue Mercury! Marla is not only magnificently gorgeous, she is an extremely powerful, Harvard Graduated, woman!!!!  Someday I’d love to sit down and talk with her about the color blue!

Anyway, The liquid lipstick comes in a long lip gloss tube.

Also, the applicator wand has a long, thin, flocked applicator that makes applying the liquid really easy.

Furthermore, the Quick Stick is a chubby crayon that twists up from the bottom as needed.

Lune + Aster make “good for you products” for women on the go. (And aren’t we all?”)  Therefore, the products are luxurious, quick and easy to use.

Quick Stick Ingredients

The creamy, moisturizing formula keeps lips moist, hydrated and super soft.  Also, the ingredients are vegan and gluten free.  The feel-good formula gives your lips a treatment with ingredients such as Vitamins E and C, and Orange Oil.  First, Vitamin C helps to repair and protect your lips.  Next, Vitamin E helps to hydrate your lips.  Last,  Orange Oil is an antioxidant that also hydrates your lips.

Liquid Lipstick Ingredients

The creamy, pigmented formula provides a super-smooth application and a vibrant-looking lip.  Furthermore, the ingredients are vegan and gluten free.  Moreover, unlike the majority of liquid lipsticks on the market, Lune + Aster Liquid Lipstick feels really comfortable on your lips.  And, even though it is very long-lasting, it doesn’t dry out your lips.  As a result of ingredients such as Vitamin C and E, Avocado Oil and Aloe, this Liquid Lipstick is a pleasure to wear.  Vitamin C helps to repair and protect the lips.  And, Vitamin E helps hydrate your lips.  Also, Avocado Oil is included to hydrate your lips.  Last, Aloe helps to soothe your lips.

I purchased two shades, Date Night and Livestream.  First, I love Date Night because it is the perfect, most beautiful, deep shade of red.  And, everyone needs at least one perfect shade of red in their collection.  Of course, red is the perfect shade for Date Nights.  However, this red can also be worn during the day.  For instance, if you are going to lunch with your girlfriends, or having an important power lunch, red makes a statement, Furthermore, red is powerful and versatile.  Above all, everyone looks gorgeous wearing red lipstick!  So, like I said, if you are looking for the perfect shade of red, this is it.

Also, I purchased Livestream in both formulas.  For me, Livestream is a great neutral shade.  I have dark hair, and an olive complexion.  Therefore, this beautiful deep, dusty-berry shade is beautiful.  However, if you are fair or have a light complexion, Livestream would be a great alternative to reds for date night, etc.  In fact, I love this color in the Quick Stick Formula because it appears to be the shade of dusty rose.

And Last But Not Least…

Most important, these two formulas can be worn together.  The Quick Stick is the perfect formula for everyday wear.  First, it is not as long-wearing as the liquid formula.  Also, it isn’t as pigmented, therefore it is not as vibrant.  In addition, you need to reapply it throughout the day.  And, you will have some transfer.  Above all, it isn’t as opaque with one swipe, as is the Liquid formula.  Therefore, you may need two or three swipes to get the color you are looking for.  On the other hand, the liquid lips formula is extremely pigmented, comfortable to wear, and very long-lasting.  Blue Mercury suggested I purchase the shades in both formulas.  In this way, I would have the choice of wearing them each by themselves.  Although, knowing me as well as I do, I am better off with layering the two formulas for more intensity.

Interestingly, I met Marla Beck on the beach last summer.  When she learned I was a makeup blogger, she asked me what was the one product I couldn’t live without.  At the time, Lune + Aster had just launched a new mascara.  I think she wanted my answer to be mascara.  I agree that we look naked without mascara.  However, I still believe that lipstick is the one product that I can’t live without.  What is yours?  Talk to me in the comments below!
