Kat Von D, tattoo artist, designer, painter and classical pianist, believes that everyone should “unleash their inner artist!” She makes makeup artistry look easy with her, now seven year old, line of makeup which is sold at Sephora. Her best sellers include her Studded Kiss Lipstick, a felt-tip liner, and her six shade contouring kit.
Kat Von D has a tough-girl persona, which comes through her tough-girl packaging and controversial names of her various product shades which creates quite an edge. But her edginess has a feminine side , a feeling of fifties Hollywood glamour, and together these qualities (femininity with an edge) make her line of cosmetics extremely popular! I think Kat Von D’s eccentricities in her self, and her line of cosmetics, have made her the success she is today.
I recently purchased her Interstellar Eye and Lip Set ($68) at Sephora. I love collecting her drop-dead gorgeous eye shadow palettes, and the Interstellar palette is being replaced with another palette. It was no longer in stock, which broke my galactic heart. You know how I love astronomy, so the Interstellar palette would be perfect for creating those celestial looks (which is soooo perfect for me) that I love so much. I was pleasantly surprised, actually I was elated, when I found the Interstellar palette had returned to Sephora, only this time it was a part of a kit, that not only included the eye palette, but also included a lipstick, a liquid lipstick, and an eye liner. And all the products were full sized …what a great value!

What I love about Kat Von D’s Interstellar Eye and Lip Set……..is,,,, first, the set itself is a great value at $68 dollars, you get the Interstellar eye shadow palette with twelve eyes shadows. I think the colors are gorgeous in this palette. There are trans-formative matte and shimmer shades included in the palette. The actual shades are extremely well-pigmented. The formula has staying power, and the creamy consistency of the powders goes on smoothly and blends well. The eye liner is a cool color, and ooooh that shimmer! (Unfortunately the swatch didn’t photograph well!) It is so crazzzzzy, a touch of lightening is the best way to describe the sparkly purple that has a violet shimmer ! Love it on the eye with the Interstellar palette, it completes it!
Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick in Wanderchilde is an iridescent neon lilac. I love it because it has a lot of blue tones in the pink, and it is really neon. It adds a punch of WOW to the darker inter- galactic feeling you get with the Interstellar Palette. I understand why the Studded Kiss Lipstick is her best seller. The formula is super good, it is pigmented, creamy and it lasts a long time! It feels amazing on your lips, and it is so smooth it just glides on!
The Everlasting Liquid is another outstanding formula. Most of the liquid lipsticks out there go on moist, and then dry to the point that your lips are too tight and can’t move without cracking! And that feeling of having dry lips is the worst! Everlasting liquid’s formula is infused with vitamin E and Sunflower Seed Oil. The liquid glides on like a lip gloss. It feels great on the lips. The texture is so light it never feels heavy or wet, and it dries fast without leaving that sticky, tacky feeling that other liquid lipsticks leave. This formula is pigmented, long lasting, and it feels creamy. It is hard to believe that it dries to a matte. The Armageddon Liquid Lipstick is a “romantic carnation pink color,” which looks better underneath Wanderchilde, as it is a bit bubblegum when worn alone!
