Jouer means play in French. If you are unfamiliar with the brand, it is a playful line of cosmetics that cater to woman and their busy lives. The outside box itself, the hologram, foreshadows the fact that these shadows are going to be playful, and really fun to play with!
Jouer products perform double-duty for women. They are chock full of good-for-your-skin ingredients which are combined and packed into the color formula. Brand Spanking New, the Jouer Limited Edition Eye Shadow Palette “Mermaid ($38) has four beautiful shades of light diffusing mineral pigments that are packed with all of those good-for-you ingredients.
From the bottom to the top the color swatches are:
Coconut – an iridescent icy white
Pink Pearl – an iridescent soft pink
Splash – an iridescent aquamarine
Dreamer – an iridescent duo-chrome peacock (deep charcoal with duo in blue)
This palette has gorgeous written all over it! The shadows can be use wet or dry. The four shades are all iridescent and they have some sparkle. The Coconut and Pink Pearl pans appear, to me, to be translucent. The iridescent eye shadows can be used as a pop of color, alone, or put over another eye shadow. They can also be used in the inner corners of your eyes, as well as for eye liner.
Jouer’s packaging is genius. You can disassemble your kits when you need to, and reconfigure them as you need to. Each pan is a compartmentalized and had detachable features that snaps, slide and click into all of the other products in the line. Each compartment even has it’s own mirror! You can snap and slide an eye shadow with a powder, cheek color, highlighter and a lip gloss, and if you are running out for dinner, just detach , slide off , your lipstick and put that in your bag. It is almost like having a Makeup Lego set at your disposal. It is fun to play with, yet it is “serious makeup”!!!
What I like about Jouer’s Limited Edition Mermaid Palette…….is the satin-like texture of the eye-shadows. The colors of the shadows are gorgeous. They capture the summer feeling for me. I picture myself tanned (with a bronzer and self-tanner of course) and a hit of blush, a bronzed lip, and these gorgeous iridescent shadows that sparkle on my eyes. How beautiful does that sound? And I also love detaching and attaching the various compartments with other Jouer products to create and recreate you palettes however you need them to be at the moment, just snap, click and slide.
