We (Bobbie Jean and I) are always in the market for a new mascara. New Yves Saint Laurent THE SHOCK Volumizing Mascara ($29) coats each lash with one single stroke! It comes in three shades : Asphalt Black, Rough Burgundy, and Underground Blue.
The brush is one of the reasons this mascara is exciting. It has an hourglass shaped brush which allows for more of the ” shock formula” to grab hold of the lashes. 
The hourglass shape also curves, which coincides with the curve of the lashes. 
This makes Shock Mascara even easier to apply.
It adds length and volume. It doesn’t clump on the eye, although the brush gets a little clumpy. (Bobbie Jean and I kinda like when the brush gets a little clumpy – we call it gloppy!) I love the brilliant, high intensity color. 
I purchased the Black and Burgundy shades. I prefer the black, I’m not quite sure why I purchased the burgundy shade, I guess I was having a surreal moment! 
The color doesn’t smudge or flake. What I really love is the long wear this mascara has, even with it not being waterproof!
To apply The Shock, , begin at the root of the lash, on the outside of the eye. Touch the hourglass shaped brush to the lash and push upwards and outwards at the same time. You can increase the volume by adding stroke on top of stroke. 
It lengthens the lashes. It doesn’t flake. The color is richly pigmented. It is a wet formula that dries very quickly once it has been applied to the lashes. 
The black is the richest, deepest, most vibrant black I’ve ever seen in a mascara. I was happy with the results I received, long, dark lashes without clumping and no mess! 
You definitely must to use an eye makeup remover to remove the mascara when you take your makeup off at night.(Don’t forget to do that!)
