Two Words Say It All! Tom Ford. Tom Ford is an American Fashion Designer, film director, screen writer, and film producer. In addition to these accomplishments, Tom Ford has an extremely successful, luxurious cosmetics line. Of course, I am a huge fan of the line. Specifically, I love the eye shadow quad palettes, lipsticks and the stick foundation. In particular, I think his makeup formulas are luxurious, and his colors scream fashion. Above all, his cosmetics are as fashionable as they are functional. Recently, the new, limited edition, Tom Ford Private Shadow, was launched for the holidays. The Tom Ford Private Shadow collection includes 30 individual eye shadows in five specific finishes. I do love eye shadow palettes. However, it is nice to create looks with individual shadows. Furthermore, it is easier to carry individual shadows in your clutch than it is to take some of the more cumbersome palettes.
Tom Ford Private Shadow Packaging
First, the eye shadows are packaged in a square, dark brown, lacquered box with a gold-mirrored end cap. Press your finger on the end cap to apply pressure, and gently pull it towards yourself. The gold mechanism pulls down. Do not try to open it with your fingernails because you will just ruin your manicure! Next, once the mechanism is down, open the lid.
The compact is a bit larger than a postage stamp. Inside, the mirror is the same size as a postage secstamp. Furthermore, the eye shadow is also the size of a postage stamp. I guess I could say that a lot of attention went into the details we women like. Although the mirror is all but worthless, it is a nice touch to any compact. The teensy, weensy, $36 eye shadow is stamped TF. Therefore, small and sturdy, this is easy to throw in a clutch bag. However, don’t throw it in one of your tote bags, because it is so tiny, you’ll lose it!
Tom Ford Private Shadow Distinct Finishes
First, Ultrasuede is a matte finish that is totally without pearl.
Second, Suede is a demi-matte with a subtle pearl finish. Therefore, it has a slight shimmer.
Third, Sateen is a lustrous pearl finish with a glowing sheen.
Fourth, Vinyl is a highly pearlized metallic chrome finish.
Fifth, Pailette is a sequined, glittering pearl finish. Use Pailette on top of another shadow or as a finishing touch.
The formulas are richly pigmented, long-wearing, and they resist creasing. There is little to no fallout.
Tom Ford Private Shadow Shades
I purchased five of the shades in four of the finishes. I would have liked to purchased more, but some of the shades at Neiman Marcus were sold out. Next, I looked on the Sephora Website and 29 of the shades are sold out. I hope they will restock, but it is a limited edition so I can’t be sure.
Blonde Venus
Blonde Venus is a beige shade with an Ultrasuede matte finish. I like this shade as an all over eye base, or on the lid.
Moonlighting
Moonlighting is a yellow-gold shade in a sateen finish. This shadow is a light color. It is a little hard to see. I am using this shade as a highlighter on my brow bone, and in the inner corners of my eyes.
Bronze Iris
Bronze Iris is a sun-bronzed shade in a sateen finish. This shade is a bit darker than Moonlighting. Therefore, it looks great as an eyelid shade.
Body Double
Body Double is a peachy bronze shade with a vinyl finish. I love Body Double as a crease shade.
Tempete Bleue
Tempete Bleue is purple with a blue shift in a Pailette finish. This is a richly pigmented shade. Because it is a glitter, I recommend using your finger to tap and press it on your eye. As a result, you will avoid a lot of fallout. This shade reminds me of the 2018 color of the year, Ultra Violet. I am dramatic, therefore I will wear this as a topper to another shadow, on my eyelid, and, wet as a liner.
Sum
I love the gorgeous shades of these eye shadow singles. I think they are a little too costly because of the size of the actual shadows. However, you’ll have to ask yourself if size matters. The quality of a product, and the unique shades are what is really important. You already know that when you are buying anything Tom Ford, it is going to be costly. Furthermore, you are purchasing a luxury item. Therefore, I have come to terms with the high pricetag. Tom Ford has created shades and formulas that will create a flawless, polished look. In my opinion, the Tom Ford Private Eyeshadows live up to their hype and are worth the splurge! Hopefully you still can purchase the shadows at Neiman Marcus.
