Monochromatic makeup has been around since the 1950s, and will still be around when another trend arrives because it works well for every skintone and it works for all of fashion’s trends! Monochromatic Makeup is the technique where eyes, lips and cheeks stay in the same color family. Whether it be beige, brown, pink , red or blue, keep all of your products within that color family. You can stay within the color family, with a range of the shade one or two tints lighter, or one or two shades darker.
For monochromatic Eyes and Lips – stay within a shade or 2 of the tint, either lighter or darker, with the same undertone. Try a violet eye shade with a sheer violet lipstick instead of the same vibrant color on the eyes and lips ( a double the effect statement is sometimes too difficult a look to pull off.
This violet look is a softer violet eye and a more pronounced violet lip.
Lips and Cheeks is the most common monochromatic look. If you go with a bright shade of the color on the cheek, then use a pale wash of the color on the lips. Or, visa-versa.
An easy way to pull off an Eye and Lip look is to dab a cream color on the apples of your cheeks, and swipe the excess right on your lips.
Cheeks and Eyes – Blush blends well in eye area , use a blending brush or a blush brush and put a rosy or peachy colored blush across the brow bone.
