I break out in a terrible rash from deodorants so when I saw that Tarte came out with a vegan deodorant that was aluminum and alcohol free, I had to give Tart Clean Queen Deodorant ($14) a try.
The packaging was equally enticing. I love the colors of the stick- mint ice cream green with a lavender cap that feels like smooth rubber, and a zig zag design through the mint ice cream green. It is a nice size too! And it twists up, no aerosol cans ruining the ozone layer. How much fun! And, the price was right at $14. So I splurged!
The formula seemed to make sense too. A hypoallergenic cream to powder formula. It is Vegan. It is aluminum free ( aluminum clogs the pores to prevent perspiration and also can cause cancer.) It does contain natural plant starches that absorb excess moisture and odor without inhibiting natural perspiration. Aloe helps cool and condition the skin.
The scent is refreshing, subtle, light and smells of fresh cotton. I love that it didn’t smell like baby powder. After it warms up (the first application was a bit waxy), it applies easily.
After all this, being that it is a deodorant, how much more is there for me to go on about. Since it is just a deodorant, and not an antiperspirant, it doesn’t claim to stop wetness. Well, take my word for it, IT DOESN’T.
However, it does claim that it won’t Leave White Marks Nor Streaking behind. Well, take my word for it, IT DOES! After applying , it left a white film with patchy streaks.
So it doesn’t work! Plain and Simple. I can’t recommend a product that does nothing for sweat, does the minimal for smell, takes too much time to dry, and gets a white film, and little rubbery pills, all over your clothes! Maybe it works differently on different people, but , for me, it didn’t work at all!
