I am a fan of Stila’s liquid eyeshadows. First, I love that they come in so many “flavors.” For example, the Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadows have a foil finish. In addition, Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows have a beautiful shimmery finish. Also, Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows have lots of glitter and sparkle. And, Shade Mystere, my favorite! This one is a little bit harder to describe. First, inside, the tube has two marbleized shades. However, when you apply Shade Mystere to your eye, the two shades become a new shade. The thing I love is, the new shade is a shimmering, color flipping shade on the eyes! Now, Stila has introduced a new liquid formula, moving on from the metallic shimmers, foils, duo-chromes, and glitters. Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eyeshadow liquid matte!
Are you into liquid matte shadows? Don’t sound too excited! For one thing, this new liquid matte shadow is Matte, but it is not Flat!!! Moreover, it’s not dry and flakey either! And, it comes in eight gorgeous shades!
If you want to try the new Suede Matte formula, Ulta has them. So does Sephora! Also, they are at Macy’s and Nordstroms. And, you can always go onto the Stila Website. Also, the Eyeshadows cost $24.
Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eyeshadow Packaging
Each box, on top, is the color that is inside the box. And, written on top of the color, is the name of the shade. (If that makes any sense to you?) .
Then, the liquid shadow tube reminds me of a lip gloss tube. This one is clear acrylic so you can see the color inside. And, the lid is a gold metallic.
Also, the lid twists off, and the applicator is on the lid.
Finally, the flocked doe-footed applicator is on the end of the wand.
Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eyeshadow Formula
The formula includes subtle iridescent pearls that add lift to the velvety-matte finish. Well, it’s not exactly matte, is it? Well, it is because these iridescent pearls create dimension. And, you’ll never see dimension in a flat matte eyeshadow. As a result, the texture of the liquid shadow has a suede, skin-like feel. So, this is why the liquid eyeshadow is easier to blend out, (because it is not completely matte!) That is why this matte liquid eyeshadow is different from all other matte liquid eyeshadows! In this way, unlike a flat matte, the dimensional matte finish won’t emphasize crepe eyelids, or lines in your lids.
In addition, the formula gives you long-wearing pigment-packed color. And, the shadow has a lightweight feel. The liquid shadow can easily be layered to create more impact. Also, you can easily build color. Additionally, it blends like a dream.
Finally, the shadow feels smooth and velvety. One thing though, the dry-down time is a little longer than other liquid shadows. However, this is a good thing. The reason is, it gives you more time to blend the shadow. As a result, you won’t have to rush to get your shadow on. Another impressive thing about the liquid shadow is you can apply it sheer, or you can create a bold, bright , opaque statement look.
The Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eyeshadow Shades
There are eight shades in this collection. I only purchased three. The reason I only bought three was, I haven’t had much luck with liquid matte shadows. For example, I tried the Huda Beauty Matte and Metals liquid shadow. You know the ones where the matte is on one end and the metal is on the other end. One, the mattes were flat. Two, they dried down and showed every vein on my eyelid. And Three, they flaked off! So, I didn’t want to invest in eight matte shades!
However, the colors of the five I didn’t buy are:
Midnight Expresso, a warm brown shade; Smoky Silk, a light grey shade; Enchanted Earth, an olive green shade, Something Blue, a sky blue shade, and Violet Velvet-a light violet mauve shade.
The three shades I purchased are:
The Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eyeshadow Shades I purchased are nude awakening, sassy, and bust a mauve.
Nude Awakening
First, Nude Awakening, a bone shade, has a Suede Matte Finish. One, Nude Awakening is extremely light. In fact, you could call it the “no eyeshadow” eyeshadow. However, there are a lot of ways to use this shade. One way to wear the bone shade is all over your eyelids and in your crease. Another way to use Nude Awakening is as a highlighter on your brow bone. Also, you could wear it on the inner corners of your eyes. Finally, the bone shade makes a great eyeshadow base.
Sassy
Sassy is a nude pink shade, with a suede matte finish. One thing I did was to put Sassy on top of Nude Awakening! In this way, the two light shades became more opaque. I love the two shades blended together. Also, you could wear the nude pink shade as a shadow base. Finally, you can layer it on your eyelids, and wear it by itself.
Bust A Mauve
Finally, Bust A Mauve is a deep mauve shade that has a suede-like matte finish. There is a lot of things you can do with this beautiful color. First, you can work it through your crease. On the other hand, you could create a cut crease. Moreover, you can pat it on your eyelids. Another way to wear it is as an eyeliner, to line your lower lash lines. And, you could wear Bust A Mauve on the outer corners of your eyes.
Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eye Shadow Last But Not Least……
For one thing, Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eye Shadow is not like any liquid matte eyeshadow that I’ve ever tried! The reason is it is so Versatile, there are so many ways you can use them to create an eye look. For example, use your finger to apply the shade to your eyelids. Then, still using your finger, sheer the eyeshadow out! In this way you will get a sheer, almost dewy finish to your eye. On the other hand, you can use an eyeshadow brush. So, when you are using your eyeshadow brush, do little taps and tap the color on. Miraculously, the shadow blends itself! Last, when you use any of the shades as your eye shadow base, it creates depth. And, it locks in whatever shadow you decide to put on top of it.
So-if you are like me, and don’t like the liquid matte shadows because they flake, dry out, and show every vein in your eyelid, then this is the matte liquid for you! Sometimes, you don’t need all that glitter, shimmer, and mystery during the day. I am going to love wearing the softer matte shades during the day. Then, at night, you can amp them up! Let me know what you think in the comments below. Don’t be shy, just stop by and say hi!!!!

I had to comment because of your excellent and so comprehensive review! I am totally impressed – Wow!
I have a question, the shades look so beautiful (and cool toned) in your swatches, but in the bottles they appear quite warm, so would you describe them as cool, neutral or warm?
Dear Zee, I really appreciate that you enjoyed my Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eyeshadow! Thank you so much for your feedback. To answer your question, I have to agree with you that the shades are cool tones. I took the photo in daylight. Also, I realize that the actual liquid in the bottle looks more warm toned. However, you have to take into consideration that once the liquid hits air, and dries down, it really does look totally different from what you see in the bottle. I hope that answers your question. Again, Thanks so much for such positive feedback!
