Another Korean Beauty Trend to hit US shores is lip powder. There aren’t a lot of brands that make lip powder, but Sephora has their own lip powders, and now they are carrying a new makeup line called Stellar, and Stellar has lip powder in their limited color makeup collection. There are 2 Stellar Stardust Lip Powder Palettes. S-01 and S-02 ($28 each). Each palette has 3 opaque, richly pigmented. metallic shades of universal colors that create a myriad of special effects. Stellar beauty specializes in addressing women with medium, tan and dark skin tones by providing colors that pop on those skin tones. However, these lip powders complement all skin tones and any lip color.
The packaging is dark black plastic, with a clear plastic cover, and the three lip powder shades are featured through the cover. You can see how beautiful the shades are before you even open the palette.
When the palette is opened, (S- 02 above) it also contains a thin mirror that is at the top of the opened cover, and a double-ended applicator with a pointed end for precision, and a doe foot for spreading the powder evenly on the lips.
The formula is moisturizing and your lips will feel hydrated. Your lips are powdered with dimension and radiance. The richly pigmented colors are powders that feel weightless . The palettes are cruelty and fragrance free.
You can wear the powders alone for a sheer shimmery look. The shades can be blended together to create an ombre effect, or a saturated custom shade. It doesn’t dry out your lips. Add it to the top coat of a finite lipstick for a 3-D Velvet Matte look, and to make it really pop! Wear the lip powders underneath a lip gloss, or as a topper, over your lip gloss to magnify a lustrous effect. Your possibilities are endless,
If you haven’t tried lip powder, here are a few tips to ensure a successful application, and that it looks beautiful and lasts a bit longer, as powders can be a bit tricky.
Exfoliate Lips to make them smooth
Apply a Lip Balm
Apply a Reverse Lip Liner for crisp borders
Pick Your Lip Powder Shade (usually a lighter shade is better for daytime wear, and a darker shade is amazing for nighttime wear.)
Use a Doe Foot Applicator because the “powder” is actually a hydra-gel that turns into a creamy texture when it makes contact with the skin
Always Begin In The Center of the lips and blend outwards
Fill In The Middle of the Lips using the very tip (pointy part) of the applicator to create a stark border that meets the reverse lip liner that you’ve previously applied
Sweep the Lip Powder to the outer corners working in small sections, one at a time
Even Out The Color With A Second Coat of Lip Powder because powdered lip products may appear patchy and uneven after one coat
Keep the Palette With You for touch ups throughout the day, or night
