To catch you up, last month, (April 2017) was my first time receiving Sephora’s monthly subscription – Play!, and I was not thrilled! It just didn’t compare to many of the other subscription boxes I receive on a monthly basis. The samples were teeny weeny, there were too many products that were like “been there, done that!”, and it was borrrrring. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, the May Play! has redeemed the Play! Box in my eyes. I was pleasantly surprised!
May Play! has stepped it up, and shows us some of the cult favorites, hard-to-find formulas, and one-of-a-kind brands- the brands that we look to Sephora to offer us.
Matte About You –
Nudestix Magnetic Matte Lip Color in the bold, pigmented shade, Greystone, is a long-wearing, three-in-one matte lip stain, lip color, and lip liner.
It is a rising star because it is a preservative-free formula that is boldly pigmented, from the Nudestix brand that was created by a beauty industry veteran and her young, hip daughters. It is the perfect product for an easy, on-the-go application.
Apply it on the edge and work your way in, beginning with your Cupid’s bow. Outline your lips first, then fill them in.
I like this item because, the size of the Nudestix was perfect for a deluxe sample verging on a full-sized product. I like the brand, and I love the ease with which their stix apply, and that their the stix have multiple uses. I also like that this brand is relatively new to Sephora, our Sephora doesn’t even carry the line yet, so I’ve only been able to get it online.
It’s Oil Gone –
Tatcha One Step Camilia Cleansing Oil is a two in one makeup remover and cleanser. It uses plant based oils to wash away impurities, It is gentle, and doesn’t strip the skin.
It is a rising star because Westerners are becoming more and more interested in Eastern skincare. Tatcha is a Japanese-based brand that is based on ancient Japanese beauty traditions. Camilia Oil is coveted for its ability to soothe and nurture skin.
Massage a dime size amount onto dry skin, and rinse with warm water. If you want to do the Asian “double-cleanse” method, follow with a foaming cleanser. I use Tatcha’s Rice Enzyme Cleanser.
I love that Sephora includes the Japanese, and the Korean Beauty Brands. I believe this is the direction more and more of us are heading in the skincare department, mainly because, it works! And , cleansing, using an oil to remove dirt and debris from the skin, is the most important step in any Asian skincare regime.
Every Glow Often
Trestique Highlight and Perfect Multipurpose Stick in Maldives Luminescent is a silky-smooth gel highlighter stick in a champagne pink shimmer. It has a barely there, lightweight texture.
It is a rising star at Sephora because Trestique is an up and coming line of double duty multitaskers that are perfect for simplifying your beauty routine. It’s formula is coconut enhanced, which gives your skin a boost of vitamins, and you can keep this in your handbag, and one swipe will give you a middle of the day glow!
To apply, swipe and pat in to your skin.
I love this brand and I’m thrilled Sephora is now carrying it. The collection includes many sticks that perform different purposes, such as a bronzer, lipstick, eye stick, etc. On the opposite side of the stick is either a brush, or a pencil sharpener- or something to make your application easier. It is the perfect brand for the girl on the go – swipe a stick here and there and pouf, you’re finished and you look gorgeous!
The Alpha of Omegas –
Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask is a conditioning treatment made with an omega-rich oil that soaks into damaged or dull hair to add shine and vibrancy.
It is a rising star, from New York’s most sought after hairstylists that has a rare rain forest-grown rahua nut oil, which Amazonian tribes have used for generation to get shiny hair.
Once a week, apply to hair after shampooing, comb through, leave in for 10-15 minutes, and rinse. Use once a week.
Well, this reminds me of Ojon, which I was crazy about, a few years ago. It was also from the Amazonian Rain forest, and it sound as if it is the same nut! If it is, or if it’s close to Ojon, it will be a hit!
Come To Your Senses –
Belif Hungarian Water Essence is a super light, super-hydrating treatment that delivers moisture deep into the skin to keep skin soft and supple.
It is a rising star because it is from a favorite Seoul-based brand that hydrates and delivers antioxidants, and uses soothing botanicals.
Apply after cleansing, and toner, before your moisturizer, both day and night.
I am not sure where the Hungarian came into the picture, this is a Korean brand, and essence is a Korean K-Beauty essential, to soften skin and help your serums and moisturizers become even more effective . You apply essence by gently pressing it into your skin with a light patting motion. I use essence every day, and I really believe in it. Sephora must believe in it too, and want us to try it.
And this month’s perfume selection –
A Tocca of Your Affection –
Tocca ” Stella” is in the fresh fragrance family, and was inspired by the dramatic beauty of Milan, Italy. Top notes : Blood Orange, Middle Notes, White Freesia, and Base Notes Sandalwood create a warm, fresh perfume perfect for springtime.
I actually like the warm scent … it’s fresh, and a bit spicy!
