I loved my June 2016 Ipsy Subscription Bag(read review here) of Makeup and Beauty Products so much, I couldn’t wait to get my July 2016 Ipsy Bag! Both of my subscriptions arrived while I was in Europe, so when I arrived home I opened both packages before I even looked at a piece of mail! Yesterday I described what was in my July 2016 BirchBox. Today it is all about the new Ipsy Bag! The bag’s theme for July is appropriately titled “Hot Summer Nights.”
The Ipsy bags always arrive in these gorgeous colored envelopes, which I think implies something really fun and exciting is inside. I would love to save the bags, I just don’t know what I would do with them. And Bobbie Jean, our photographer, has no patience for what she calls “clutter,” and she’ll throw them out whether or not I want to keep them! And I want to keep them! I do, I really do!
What is in my newest Ipsy bag? I can’t wait to find out! Are You Ready?
# of items in July 2016 Ipsy Bag – 5 (plus the really adorable and really useful makeup bag!)
# of full size items – 3 (plus the bag)
# of deluxe size samples – 2
Categories – Makeup, Makeup Brush, Primer, Skincare
These numbers show why I really love the Ipsy Bag. I think you get a lot more bang for your $10, three full sized items and the makeup bag versus O (zero) full sized Birch Box items!
Every month you receive a makeup bag from Ipsy, and you can never have too many makeup bags! Every time you receive a bag, it will be a new variation, different designs and different colors each time.
You always receive either full or deluxe size products from Ipsy. No teeny, weeny samples or packets that hardly tell you what the product will do for you as I received from Birchbox!
Now let’s see what is in the July bag! Ready?
Two Faced HANGOVERx is a revolutionary new primer that will cure your next beauty hangover! The formula is infused with coconut water, a probiotic based ingredient and skin revivers. It acts like an energy drink to hydrate skin and smooth and brightens skin for a healthy finish.
Mellow eye shadow, the full size, alone costs $8. and the slanted eye brush it great to draw the shadow on as an eyeliner, or to apply shadow to the corner to accentuate the eye. I love the dark berry metallic shadow. The brush is awesome. Ipsy sends out beauty tools and makeup brushes frequently, which is a great thing, we can always use another great brush!
Ofra lip liner is water resistant and good for sensitive lips. It is created with synthetic beeswax, so the application is smooth, soft and the liner is long lasting. Another great lip liner, and it is more than $10 (the price of the bag), it sells for $12.95! Ane we are still not finished!
Not Soap Radio joy inducing hand and body lotion is a moisturizing lotion with a pleasant scent, maybe a little strong at first, but not terrible! It is fine to lotion your hands and body with. I enjoy getting interesting products from Ipsy that are fun and a little off-beat.

What I love about the Ipsy Glam bag……. is the bags are personalized, You answer a profile when you sign up and you can tell Ipsy what you like. I like that the products are either full size, or deluxe sample size. I have received between 2-3 full sized products in each bag. I like the makeup brush they often include. I also like that the actual makeup bag varies with each month’s delivery, and it is useful and really adorable. I love receiving color cosmetics from Ipsy because they are usually new brands that I am not familiar with. I like the fun vibe with the company. Most of all, for ten dollars you get products that exceed the actual box price. The value of the box is amazing. This is definitely my recommendation if you want to try a beauty and cosmetic subscription boxes.
I am not loving the tiny makeup samples that come in the Birchbox. Except for mascara, I have yet to see color cosmetics in the box. The box itself is always fun and it also varies with each month’s shipment. I have already canceled my subscription once. I tried it this year to give it another chance. I hope as the year progresses, the shipments become more exciting to me. Everybody deserves a second chance, and that is exactly what I am doing with Birchbox. It does ship to Europe which is a plus.
Have you ever received a beauty and cosmetic subscription? Would you tell me what you like about it. What are you looking for if you were to subscribe to one of these boxes? Which appeals more to you, Ipsy? Birchbox? I am always interested in hearing your opinions. Please leave me your feedback in the comments box below. I would love to answer any of your questions. Please don’t be shy!
