The Nars Velvet-Matte Lip Pencil ($27) is a cult favorite among both Nars fans and lipstick lovers. It delivers the impact of a lipstick with the easiness of a pencil. It saturates the lips with bold, rich, vivid pigments in a velvety matte finish.
The pencil is oversized, so it really does apply like your lipstick. But, it is in the form of an artist pencil. The “pencil point” is perfect for lining, defining, and filling in your lips with color.
It doesn’t dry out your lips the way other matte lip products can because the formula is rich in Vitamin E and other emollients that give this pencil it’s creamy texture. A blend of unique silicones create the long, lasting seamless matte colors.
There are twenty-six shades of Velvet-Matte Lip Pencils. There are a wide variety of shades to choose from, beginning with barely there neutrals, to medium shades, and ending with dramatic, intense reds, and even a blue shade. I purchased an assortment of shades, and because they were all tempting, it was difficult for me to choose.
Do Me Baby is a Chestnut Rose Shade.
Do Me Baby is a natural shade. It is “your lips but better!”
The other neutral shade I purchased was Dolce Vita. Dolce Vita is a gorgeous Dusty Rose that is a great everyday shade for me.
Bolero is a great summer shades, especially if you have a tan. It is the color of Pink Cantaloupe.
Famous Red is another great summer shade. It is a bright pink coral. I think this shade would look amazing on everyone!
Famous Red Swatched.
Let’s Go Crazy is a Vivid Pink. This is a dramatic, fun, sexy night time color. I love it for a change from the typical night time reds.
Let’s Go Crazy swatched.
Do Me Baby, Let’s Go Crazy, Bolero, Famous Red, Dolce Vita! Their creaminess makes them comfortable to wear. They glide on and stay put. First, I used them to line my lips. Next, because the pencil is thicker than most other pencils, I was able to fill my lips in with the color and wear it as a lipstick. I also can wear it as a tinted base. The lighter colors do tend to appear drier on the lips , so you must moisturize your lips, before applying a shade. They are great for wearing under other lip products, which will help your ” lip look” last longer. The biggest problem is the pencils need sharpening, and they are too big for just any sharpener. The only one that works well is Nars pencil sharpener (click here to see it)! It gives the pencils the perfect tip, and you won’t waste too much product. The pencils have rich, sexy, bold, vibrant shades. They’re easy to apply , soft, creamy, and last a long time.
What do you think? What shades do you like?
You Are Awesome!
