To begin with, let’s start by introducing you to Mario Dedivanovic. First, Mario has been in the makeup business for twenty years. You may know him as the makeup artist for Kim Kardashian. In fact, he helped Kim create her own makeup line. Finally, it’s Mario’s turn to create his own luxury makeup collection. Even more, Mario designed his 21 high quality makeup collection for, makeup artists. However, he also designed this collection for everyday people who just love makeup! Therefore, Mario’s makeup is easy to use. I am grateful for that! So, I had to give this brand a try. Two products, that really appealed to me, are the Makeup By Mario Master Secret Glow/Master Crystal Reflectors. Both products are extremely user-friendly.
You can find all of the Makeup By Mario products at Sephora, and on the Makeup By Mario Website . Master Secret Glow (0.05 oz./ 1.5g) costs $22. Also, Master Crystal Reflectors (0.12 oz./ 3.5g) costs 24.
Makeup By Mario Master Secret Glow/Master Crystal Reflectors Packaging
First, Mario’s packaging is a crisp black and white outer box. I love that the packaging looks simple and sleek. Also, the compacts fit into the palm of your hand. The compacts are white. According to Mario, they are easy to keep clean. All you need to do is wipe them off with a tissue or wet rag. Inside the compact, is a nice sized mirror. The reason Mario used white compacts is white represents purity and sweetness. Also, white looks sleek.
Makeup By Mario Master Secret Glow/Master Crystal Reflectors: The Inspiration
Master Secret Glow
To start with, Mario prefers a sheer, emollient highlighter over powder highlighters. One reason is, the sheer emollient highlighter creates a natural glow, over powder highlighters that tend to create texture. Yet, some emollient highlighters tend to be sticky. Therefore, Mario took a sheer emollient highlighter, and he made it his own. I’ve tried a few of these emollient highlighters, without much luck. For example, Mac’s Dazzle Glass Highlighter was too sticky. Another sticky one was the Kevyn Aucoin Glass Glow Face Gloss.
Mario’s Master Secret Glow won’t disrupt the texture underneath it. The reason is, it doesn’t slide. Instead, it has a grip. So, where you place it is where it stays.
The result is, you get a natural sheen that has a glass-like effect.
It creates a super dewy look. And, it lasts a long time.
Master Crystal Reflectors
I love the look of sheer sparkles on the eyes. Therefore, the Master Crystal Reflectors are right up my alley. First, if you are like me, and like sparkles on your eyelids, these reflectors have a sheer finish,. As a result, your eyes won’t look like you are inundated with sparkle. Instead, the sparkle is pretty low-key. Also, if you want a crystal-sparkle veil on your cheeks, these bouncy powders are perfect.
Even more, these bouncy powders, inspired by crystals, come in three shades: Quartz, Citrine and Bronzite. First, Quartz reminds me of Fenty’s Diamond Bomb.
It is a bright white shade, that has a shimmering finish. Next, Citrine, a golden yellow shade, has a sparkling finish.
Last, Bronzite, a cocoa shade, has a shimmering finish.
All three reflectors sparkle, glimmer and glow when the light hits them. What I love most about these reflectors is, they give you a wet, glimmering look.
One last thing, these are reflectors. Therefore, they are not meant to be super pigmented. Their base is generally clear, fine, pliable glitter. As a result, they are not gritty. Instead, they are very smooth.
All three shades provide a translucent wash of shimmer. In other words, the shimmer is subtle, sheer, and luminous! Wear them alone, or over your favorite shadow. They make great toppers.
Big Issue With Bronzite
Bronzite came broken. I am not a happy camper. I ordered these on Sephora. Especially now, when we are living in a pandemic, and can’t just bob into stores whenever we need to exchange or return something, I am tired of receiving broken items from Sephora. In fact, Sephora should be using bubble paper, or something else, to prevent this thing from happening. This isn’t Mario’s fault. It is Sephora’s fault!
Even more, this was unfortunate, because it is a beautiful nude-bronze shade, that had powder all over the packaging, inside and out of the compact! I tried pressing the bouncy powder back in, but you can see by the pictures, it didn’t work that well!

My Final Thoughts On Makeup By Mario Master Secret Glow/Master Crystal Reflectors…..
Both products give you a glow. First, the Master Secret Glow is a balm that gives you a dewy, glass-like sheen. Next, the Master Crystal Reflector, three shades of face and eye highlighters, gives you a sheer finish with sparkles on your eyelids. And, if used on your cheeks, they create a crystal-sparkle veil.
Right now, makeup is having a tough time. During the pandemic, most of us don’t wear makeup like we did pre-covid! Therefore, these products won’t give you much color. but they will give you a glow. So, you don’t have to wear any other products, and you still give yourself a lift.As a result, I think these highlighters are pandemic-worthy. At least you will have a great, beautiful glow, especially when light hits your face!
I’d love to hear what you think about these products in the comments box below. What do you like to wear during the social distancing, and lock-downs?
