It is the middle of the summer, and I am still looking for the “ultimate” tan . You know the tan , a glowing tan that looks real, meaning it doesn’t turn orange. Laura Mercier’s iconic essentials in her J’adore le Soleil Collection was inspired by the European’s quest for the ultimate tan. Since Coco Chanel first sported a suntan, women love to look tan even though we know how bad the sun is for our skin. Bronzers are the way to go, but many of them look too fake, orange, dark, or light. There are three bronzers in this Limited Edition collection, a matte bronzing powder, a bronzing crayon, and a bronzing matte veil cream.
I purchased J’adore le Soleil Collection’s Soleil Matte Veil Creme ($40). I really wanted a tanned dewy glow so I chose the creme to give me a sun- kissed glow.
The compact is mirrored silver, very sleek and chic, with Laura Mercier printed in white. It has a push mechanism that opens the compact, and keeps it tightly closed when you close it.
There is a mirror inside the compact. It is great for travel, and the perfect size for your handbag.
The formula is matte . It is pigmented, but not so much that it would be too much “tan”. It has a buttery texture. It melts onto the skin, and blends in beautifully. It also has great staying powder!
To apply, I use my fingers. The formula melted onto my skin, sitting on my skin without drying. I love that it delivers a natural color, and a sun tanned glow. It doesn’t look like I’ve glopped a lot of bronzer on my face! And it doesn’t look orangey.
It definitely has a warm undertone. You can wear it over a tan to enhance it. You can also wear it on your cheeks as a blush, and on your eyelids for a monochromatic suntanned glowy look.
It is buildable. Layer it, and you will achieve the sun tan glow you are craving.
What kind of tan are you looking for? A dewy tanned glow, or a subtle matte look you could achieve with a bronzing powder. You could also mix the powder, and use the matte veil creme to create a glow on your cheekbones, forehead, and brow bone. Tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Happy “tanning!”
You Are Awesome!
