One of my least favorite things to do is clean out my clothes closet, or my makeup drawers for that matter! But, the problem is my closet is a mess, I can’t find a thing to wear, half of everything is lying on the floor, and I just keep moving things around because I never have enough room to put anything! One of my biggest issues is that I have a really tough time getting rid of anything. I keep thinking I’ll wear something I haven’t worn in years, or I’ll need it someday! And then I become nostalgic about something that I wore to some event or other and I just can’t part with it because- Oh, parting is such sweet sorrow! One day my girlfriend came over to help me purge my closet, and she threw out trashbags filled with all of my clothes. Or at least she tried to throw out my clothes. The minute she left, I took them all out and put them back in the closet! What am I going to do? I spend way too much time lost in my closet!
Ain’t that the truth! It’s my truth anyway. I am a disorganized organized mess!
The Pyramid Theory seemed like a great idea. It’s premise is to clean out your closet like a food chain pyramid. Where the various categories are weighted differently depends on how crucial they are.
Our closets should be filled with items like jeans, sweaters, classic blouses, and pumps because they are the foundation of our look-so these items are of the utmost importance!
This seems a little bit too involved, and it is also way too difficult for me to follow all the yes and no connections, even though it does make a lot of sense.
This seems a little more simplified, but still a lot of yes and no decisions to make! What if someone, such as myself, had a difficult time making a decision (which has always been a problem for me in the closet), I could spend all day trying to figure out what to decide,” should it be yes or no?”
Well, if they didn’t make me look awesome, I wouldn’t have purchased them in the first place! So what am I supposed to get rid of?
O.K. I get it. I admit that there might be a few things in the closet that really must go!
There is even a book that teaches us how to declutter and organize everything in your house!
It’s called the Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up – The Japanese Art of De-cluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo (Amazon $10.64 Hardcover, $9.99 for Kindle). Marie discusses the newest lifestyle phenomenon-cleaning your clutter. When your clothes are piled up like a tangled pile of noodles, Konda say to ask the question, “does this (fill in type of clothing, ie:dress) bring me joy?” If your answer is yes, keep it because it still sparks joy for you. However, if the item no longer sparks joy, Kondo suggests that you “thank the item – because you should consider that your clothes have feelings”, and then toss it! Kondo says to “respect your belongings” ask yourself “are my clothes happy being thrown in a ball on the floor?” She says to remember, Nostalgia is not your friend! Get rid of it! She believes that “joy gives us permission to throw out our clothes.” She also suggests that we fold, not hang, most of our clothes! I downloaded the book on my kindle. I might reread it because I haven’t mustered up enough joy to clean out my closet yet! Do you have any suggestions? Let me know, because I am getting desperate, in the comments below! Help!!!! I want my closet to look like this:

You do my closets and I’ll do yours, and we can have joy together. But we must go right to the good will store right afterwards!!!

Remember to ask Halla how bad my closet really is!!!! I don’t get rid of things the way I should, I always think I will wear it again, or it is sentimental, or maybe I am just too lazy! Even Halla gave up on my closet!
