I’ve wanted to try Michelle Phan’s EM Makeup Collection for a while now. Also, I love that her Magic Hour Collection is all about the Magic Hour. To explain, the Magic Hour occurs twice a day. The first Magic Hour happens at sunrise. Next, the second Magic Hour occurs at sunset. For one thing, photographers consider the best lighting to take place during the Magic Hour. Also, the called the Golden Hour, the Magic Hour is when the sun’s position creates a soft, warm light. Moreover, this hazy light makes everything look good. Above all, the Magic Hour’s light is truly magical. As a result, Michelle Phan considers it to be “the world’s natural filter.”
As a result, Michelle created the Magic Hour collection. The reason is, like photography, makeup is all about lighting. Therefore, Michelle chose the lighting, that creates the most magical time of day, for her collection. Therefore, EM Cosmetics Radiant Veil Blush is in the shade Magic Hour. Even more, The Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palette, six pan eyeshadow palette, includes shades related to the Magic Hour. In fact, one of the eyeshadow shades is Magic Hour!
Finally, you can find the Magic Hour Collection on the Em Cosmetics Website. The Radiant Veil Blush ( 8g/ 0.28 oz) costs $34. The Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palette (6 X 1.5g/ 6 X 0.06 oz) costs $38.
The Packaging For The Magic Hour Collection
Outer Boxes
To begin with, the outer boxes are ombre. On the top of the box,, the color is a pale, almost white, pink shade. As you go further down the box, the pink ombre turns deeper as the sunrise, or sunset is reaching the crescendo of diffused, filtered gorgeous warm pinky-peach light. In a way, the box exemplifies the Magic Hour, and what it is all about. Furthermore, both boxes have the EM Cosmetics insignia on the front.
Next, the Divine Skies Eyeshadow Box has the ingredient list on the sides of the box. Then, on the back of the box is a color-wheel, showing the layout of the shades, and their names.
In addition, the Magic Hour Radiant Veil Blush Heaven’s Glow has the ingredients on a sticker, that is on the side of the box.
Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil Compact
First the plastic compact is a light peachy-pink shade. The EM insignia is on the outer lid. Inside, the compact has a full-sized mirror.
On the other side of the mirror, is the blush. To illustrate, it is a slightly raised, curved dome. Also, the products are made in Italy, which is where they bake creams that cook for 24 hours, and become powders.
Finally, the compact has a magnetic closure. Therefore, the blush is travel-worthy.
The Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palette Compact
Next, the Eyeshadow compact is in the shape of a polygon. This compact clicks closed, and you pull up on the lid to open it. Inside, there is a polygon-shaped full-sized mirror.
On the other side, the six shades, in a circle, are divided into six pans. The thing I like most about the compact is it fits in my hand perfectly. Therefore, it is the perfect size to apply eyeshadow, if you are on the go. In this way, you hold it with one hand, and use the other hand to apply the shadows.
The Magic Hour Collection Formula
The Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil Blush
To start with, there is talc in the product. In fact, the first ingredient on the ingredient list is talc.
Therefore, you know how ingredients go, the ingredients are listed from highest percentage to lowest. As a result, talc is the highest percentage of product in the Blush. Although, to me, it looks like the product was baked. So, if I am right, there must be cream in the product, that was baked to become powder.
Also, the box says the formula includes an innovative blend of. pearly pigments and oils Another thing, the blush is more pigmented than it looks. Yet, it has a sheen to it that reflects when you move. As a result, you really won’t need to wear a highlighter. If you want more intensity, you can layer the blush.
The Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palette
The eyeshadows are pressed pigments. Furthermore, the shadows feel velvety, and soft.
Also, they apply smoothly. These are richly pigmented shades that blend out nicely. They weren’t patchy.
They applied easily on the eyelids. Also, they layered beautifully. Finally, the eyeshadows lasted a long time.
The Magic Hour Collection Shades
The Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil Blush
Magic Hour
To begin with, the Magic Hour Shade, a peachy-pink, with a reflect shift, has a radiant, luminous finish. You can layer the blush for more impact. Although, it leaves you with the same soft, beautiful glow the sky has during the Magic Hour.
Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palette
There are six shades in the palette.
Starting at the top, clockwise, the shades are: Heavenly, Magic Hour, Phoenix, Radiant, Terra, and Sunset.
Heavenly
First, Heavenly, a champagne shade with a hint of pink in it, has a shimmering finish. One, you can wear this shade on the inner corners of your eyes. Also, you can use this shade as a highlighter, to highlight your brow bones. Or, wear Heavenly all over your eyelids, or on the inner third of your eyelids.
Magic Hour
Second, Magic Hour, a pinky-peach shade, has a shimmering finish. First, wear this peachy-pink shade all over your eyelids. Also, wear it to highlight the inner corners of your eyes.
Phoenix
Next, Phoenix, a bright peachy-orange shade, has a matte finish. I like this shade in your crease, and on the outer corners of your eyes.
Radiant
Furthermore, Radiant, a light peach shade, has a shimmering finish. First, wear this shade all over your eyelids. Also, you can wear it to highlight the inner corners of your eyes.
Terra
Then, Terra, a warm brown shade, has a matte finish. Wear Terra on your crease, and on the outer corners of your eyes. Also, you can line your lower lash lines with Terra.
Sunset
Finally, Sunset, a light peachy-pink shade, has a matte finish. Wear Sunset all over your eyelids. (Then, wear the deeper shade, Phoenix, in your crease!). Last, use Terra to line your lower lash lines, and on the outer corners of your eyes.
My Final Thoughts On The Magic Hour Collection…..
First of all, the collection looks like it was made for a young teenager who is just starting to play with makeup. And, it would be appropriate for that. However, I understand what Michelle Phan was trying to emphasize with this collection. She really wanted the shades to be the perfect light and perfect shades you’d see during the magic hour. And, I think she accomplished this.
I loved the blush more than anything. It was gorgeous, luminous, radiant and the color was amazing on my cheeks. Anyone, big girl, or young teenager, could look great with this color. The eyeshadow palette is also very pretty. It is very user friendly. The shadows are soft and. velvety. So, the packaging isn’t Tom Ford, but the price isn’t Tom Ford Prices either.
Michelle has been at this for a while, so I’m sure she is targeting a younger person. However, as I said, anyone would look good in these colors.
I am certain everyone would love the blush. In fact, when the other shade comes back in stock, I plan on ordering it, as well as some of her lipsticks.
