What is the most important ritual every Korean Woman performs nightly, before they go to sleep? Here’s a hint….women in the western parts of the world are not as interested in this, and sometimes they forget, or are too tired to perform this routine?
It’s called Double Cleansing, and every Korean woman is taught at a very young age how to Double Cleanse their face. We, on the other hand, might not even bother to wash our faces, much less, Double Cleanse them, before we go to bed!
This is all beginning to change now that South Korea has become the skincare capital of the world. the ancient methods of Korean Women, as well as their newest innovative skincare products have become more popular here (in the USA), in Europe, and in other parts of the world. We recognize that Korean Women have the most beautiful skin. They must be doing something right!
Sulwhasoo is a subsidiary brand of the mother company AmorePacific. It is a high-end brand that is well known in Korea for having amazing skincare products. Personally, I use their First Care Activating Serum EX as my next step after double cleansing. I also use Sulwhasoo Luminature Essential Finisher EX as the last product I put on before makeup in the AM, and before bed in the PM.
I’ve been using Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil EX, and Gentle Cleansing Foam Ex for over a year. I think these products, along with the double cleansing routine, are the best cleansers I’ve ever tried. I’ve never stayed so loyal to any brand, therefore Sulwhasoo is a first for me.
Sulwhasoo Double Cleansing Gentle Cleansing Oil EX Part 1
Before I get started , I must mention the packaging, which is extremely beneficial whilst I’m in the shower. The oil is dispensed via a pump mechanism, so, no lids falling all over the place, no lid that has to be screwed back on. Just press the pump, once or twice, and using your hands . massage the oil into you face.
First, as the name suggests, the Oil is a Gentle Cleansing Oil. What makes this oil work so well is it is an emulsifying oil cleanser. It removes makeup, and it works so well, I can take my waterproof eye liner, and waterproof mascara off with one or two pumps massaged, with wet hands, into my face because it emulsifies to break down makeup and lift it from my skin.
Because it is an emulsifier, it rinses clean, rather than having to wipe it off with a washcloth. Because the emulsified oil is mixed with water as an ingredient, more water is able to rinse it away easily. Straight Oil, such as Coconut Oil, is good for your skin, but it takes more work to rinse it off.
The oil has a slight herbal scent that is indigenous to the Sulwhasoo products. It is not a strong smell, and it doesn’t stick around very long.
So, now my makeup has been washed away, what next?
This was just the first step in the double cleansing routine.
Sulwhasoo Double Cleansing Gentle Cleansing Foam EX Part 2
The second step in the double cleansing routine is… wash again, only this time wash with a foaming cleanser. As much as I love the Sulwhasoo cleansing oil, is how much I love their Gentle Cleansing Foam. Like the oil, the foam cleanser also has a pump for easy and quick access to the cleanser.
More important, the Cleansing Foam is formulated with Korean Herbs that gently remove more impurities with the foam’s rich, smooth lather.
Two of the ingredients, Duckweed, and Chestnut Shell extracts both aid in giving the skin moisture while it is cleaning your skin. What is so great about this formula is that it leaves your skin smooth and clean instead of skin that feels tight and dry after cleaning it .
After You’ve Double Cleansed
Remember to always use lukewarm water to rinse your skin. Pat your skin dry with a towel. Most important, immediately after you pat your face to dry, immediately apply your skincare. This is when your skin is most receptive to receiving the most your skincare has to give you.
