Do you avoid makeup products that you don’t understand how to use? The top three products that are baffling : eyeliner, lip liner, and the really big one, cream eye shadow. The creamy texture of cream eye shadow is what intimidates people most because they aren’t sure how to use it!
I promise you that you’ll fall in love with cream eye shadow once you know all the different ways that you can use it!
Cream eye shadow can be used as a base. It is not unusual to use cream eye shadow as a base to hold powder eye shadow in place because it is difficult for a powder to stay on the eyelid by itself.
Using cream eye shadow as a base will hold onto the powder shadow throughout the day. It is a key player when you want to prevent smudging or creasing.
It is also a must if you have oily lids because it keeps oil under control, which is something a powder can not do.
Apply the cream shadow to the eyelid lightly.
Then with an eye shadow brush, tap the powder shadow on top of the cream until you get the color you want.
You can use a cream shadow in place of your eye liner. You can totally replace your eye liner pencil because cream shadows come in many forms.
You will need an angled brush to apply the cream shades that come in a pot, or find a liquid eye shadow with an applicator can also easily be applied.
You can always use a cream shadow as a highlighter.
To highlight below your brow, and inner corners of the eyes, use a cream eye shadow in a soft champagne or neutral shade for a subtle sheen.
A natural looking highlight under the brow is a really beautiful look. A harsh, stark white or frosty shadow can look too harsh and defined.
Use either your finger, or I prefer a small eye shadow brush to apply and blend under the eyebrow, and lightly tap the inner corners of your eyes with your fingers to add softness to your eyes when you are creating a soft makeup look.
Not only can you use cream shadow under your powder, you can also use cream on top of your powder, very lightly with your finger, and it will create more glow.
Applying cream eye shadow as a pop of color brightens your eyes. It is also a great trick if you want to soften the eye makeup you’ve already applied without having to start over.
You can also use bolder cream shadows to give a pop of color where ever you want to brighten your eyes and make a statement!
Not only can you use cream eye shadow for your eyes, how about trying some cream eye shadows on your lips!
You can get the look of fuller lips by applying cream eye shadow. Put lip balm on first, to hydrate your lips. Then apply your cream shadow, tapping it onto the lips until you get the desired color you’re looking for.
You can highlight the cupid’s bow area above the lip for definition, using a light color cream shadow. You can use that same highlighting shadow, and lightly tap it on your lips to give your lips a matte-like texture, without the sticky feeling.
If ever you are in a bind, remember that you can improvise with your makeup products. Lipsticks can double as blush, and eye shadows, just like cream eye shadows can double up as a base for your eye shadow, a highlighter for your face, a contour for your face, an eye liner, and even a lipstick! Remember these tips the next time you are on the fence whether you should or shouldn’t buy a cream shadow. Try it, you might like it, and if you don’t like it for your eye shadow, then you can try it somewhere else!
Have you ever used cream eye shadows for a different purpose. I would love to hear what you did with it. Please tell me in the comments below, because you know I love it when you stop by, even if it is just to say hi!
You Are Awesome!
