How to Change Gears From Foundation To Complexion Alternatives

The concept of skin coverage, and changing direction from heavier makeup isn’t all that new!  However, recently, “Barely There” makeup had become as popular as the “no-makeup-makeup” look. There are times when foundation is just too much to deal with. Sometimes, it’s about the price. Other times, it takes too much time to do base makeup because of priming and setting. But for the most part, it’s about how heavy foundations feel on your face. It’s difficult for the skin to breathe under a full-coverage foundation. That’s when you may want to look for alternatives to your foundation. Many foundation alternatives  can actually take care of your skin, unlike a foundation.  The alternatives to foundation include skin tints, tinted moisturizers, and alphabet creams.

Which Complexion Alternative is Right For You?

To choose the right alternative to your foundation, you need to decide what product is right for you?  What is your main concern? For example,if you want a quick complexion boost, you should probably look for a skin tint.  Or, do you really need a moisturizer that does a little more?  Then, it sounds like you want a tinted moisturizer.  Finally, are you looking for a complexion option that addresses imperfections while you are wearing it?  Your best complexion alternative would be one of the alphabet creams. AA Cream, means Anti-Aging. More than your standard tinted moisturizer, BB creams go above and beyond by providing coverage AND multiple skincare benefits. CC  cream stands for ‘color correcting.   It is best used before applying foundation because it ‘corrects’ the discoloration on your face such as dark circles, spots, sallowness and hyperpigmentation.  And, DD cream, newcomer in the alphabet skincare craze, DD stands for ‘daily defense’ and is like the lovechild of BB and CC creams. DD’s a primary focus is anti-aging. DD creams serve to diminish fine lines and wrinkles with continued use.

Skin Tints

Right Before and Left After skin tint

Skin Tints do exactly what they say they do!  Skin Tnts simply tint the skin without completely covering the skin, like a foundation would do.  Also, Skin Tints have a very sheer texture, that will even out your complexion, and give it a more hydrated-looking effect. Although, that is about all it does, unless it says it is a hydrating skin tint.  They only can provide you with a drop of color. The Consistency of skin tint is very  watery.  Therefore,it can only enhance your skin tone. Again, It won’t cover anything. In other words, it won’t cover your flaws. Don’t confuse Skin Tints with Tinted Moisturizers. The reason is,Tinted Moisturizers first and foremost, moisturize the skin.  If you have perfect, beautiful skin, without a blemish, you are a great candidate for Skin Tints.

Tinted Moisturizers

The primary goal of Tinted Moisturizers is to moisturize your skin.  The tinted moisturizer formula is sheer to medium.  In fact, the tinted moisturizer formula is going to feel a bit heavier , and it will deliver more coverage than a skin tint.  So,if you really need a moisturizer, but want a little more, like a tint for your skin, then choose the tinted moisturizer.

Although, BB’s have a very light texture, making it ideal for everyday use, quick and natural if you’re into the “no-makeup makeup look”.

CC Creams

CC cream stands for ‘color correcting’. It is best used before applying foundation because it ‘corrects’ the discoloration on your face such as dark circles, spots, sallowness and hyperpigmentation.
